(Newswire.net — July 6, 2022) Orlando, FL — Over the years, researchers have been warning against obesity and the myriad of undesirable health effects it is linked with.
A study carried out by the University of Rochester Medical Center has shown that exposure to phthalates is associated with abdominal obesity and insulin resistance in adult males. It is worth noting that this chemical, which can be found in plastics to soaps, was previously linked with reproductive health issues.
The findings of this research add to the increasing suspicion that low-dose exposures to phthalates and other common chemicals may be lessening testosterone levels or function in men. This means it may be contributing to rising obesity rates and an epidemic of related disorders, such as Type 2 diabetes.
The study findings were published today in the online edition of the journal Environmental Health Perspectives.
“Substantial declines in testosterone levels and sperm quality have been observed in the United States and other countries over the last several decades which urgently requires explanation,” Stahlhut said.
Lead author Richard Stahlhut, M.D., M.P.H. is a Preventive Medicine resident at the University of Rochester.
“While we can’t say yet that phthalates are a definite cause, I am certain they are on the list of chemicals that demands careful study.”
It is worth noting that phthalates have long been widely used for over 50 years. In animal research, it has been consistently shown that phthalates have the ability to depress testosterone levels.
Recent human studies have revealed that phthalate is linked not just with poor semen quality in men but also subtle changes in the reproductive organs in boy babies.
“Unfortunately, there’s still a lot to learn about phthalates,” Stahlhut said.
“The more difficult issue is what combinations of common low-dose chemical exposures might be contributing to these problems.”
Chemicals and toxins can be found pretty much everywhere today. Experts are increasingly recommending some measures helpful in reducing exposure to these substances. It may also be helpful to cleanse the body through the use of all-natural remedies like activated charcoal.
To benefit from the therapeutic goodness of this remedy, it is wise to consider the use of Divine Bounty Organic Activated Charcoal. It is one of the most effective and strong food-grade active charcoal formulas available.
