A Study Now Links Obesity With Brain Damage

(Newswire.net — August 24, 2021) Orlando, FL — The prevalence of obesity is just one of the health concerns that experts are strongly warning against today. It is worth mentioning that this epidemic is also associated with the increased odds of certain health issues.

Health authorities have long recommended that it is best to address obesity during the teenage years before health problems worsen during adulthood.

A study has shown that in teens with obesity, MRIs have revealed signs of brain damage. It is important to note that such damage may have impacts on the brain hormone, which signals individuals when they are full and should stop eating.

The findings of this research were published in the annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America.

According to Pamela Bertolazzi, brain changes found in obese adolescents are related to important regions responsible for the control of appetite, emotions, and cognitive functions.

Bertolazzi is a study co-author and a biomedical scientist and Ph.D. student from the University of São Paulo in Brazil.

The study results suggest that obesity, along with weight gain, can trigger inflammation across the body and the nervous system. This, according to the researchers, may result in brain damage.

“I think this is going to take researchers in a different direction. It really would explain these patterns of behavior that we see in these teens who are having problems with obesity,” says Danelle M. Fisher.

Danelle M. Fisher, MD, is a pediatrician and vice chair of pediatrics at Providence Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, California.

“Sometimes the eating is behavioral in nature, it’s sublimating certain emotions with food, as opposed to dealing with them in other ways,” Dr. Fisher added.

Studies investigating the various aspects of obesity and how it can be addressed properly continue to increase. The good news is that research has found certain all-natural remedies like curcumin may be useful.

Curcumin is a polyphenol that can be found in an ancient, medicinal spice called turmeric. It is loaded with various healing agents like antifungal, adaptogenic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anticarcinogenic, antiproliferative, androgenic, antifibrotic, neurorestorative, and metal-chelating properties.

It also contains anticoagulant, antiseptic, antioxidant, anti-amyloidogenic, anti-cytotoxic, antibiotic, antimicrobial, immunomodulating, and anti-catabolic agents.

A study was published in the European Journal of Nutrition.

The findings of this research suggest that the antioxidant effects of curcumin were able to suppress the inflammatory messaging in fat, muscle, and pancreatic cells. This has been found helpful in reducing high cholesterol, blood pressure, high blood sugar, and some other metabolic conditions.

There are many other studies revealing the anti-obesity benefits of curcumin. It is important to realize that scientists also say curcumin exerts varying mechanisms to benefit and protect the brain.

To benefit from its use, it is wise to consider formulas like Divine Bounty Curcumin (www.amazon.com/Turmeric-Curcumin-BioPerine-Pepper-Extract/dp/B00VSVKJ8I).
