(Newswire.net — September 15, 2020) Orlando, FL — Men who are addressing some prostate issues usually turn to the use of certain medications. However, it is worth realizing that some of these treatments may trigger certain diseases.
A study was spearheaded by the University of Edinburgh and UCL.
It has been found that men who take certain pharmaceutical drugs to decrease the symptoms of prostate disease may be more susceptible to type 2 diabetes.
Researchers suggest that patients should continue intake of their prescribed medications. However, it is important that they also get additional health checks.
In this research, the investigators looked into the health records of about 55,000 men in the United Kingdom. It has been found the pharmaceutical drugs were associated with the increased likelihood of type 2 diabetes of around one third.
The research was published in the British Medical Journal.
It was funded by the Edinburgh and Lothians Health Foundation, with the contribution of the researchers from the Universities of Dundee and Newcastle and National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan also contributed.
According to professor Ruth Andrew, they found that commonly prescribed medications for prostate disease can increase risk of type 2 diabetes.
Andrew is from the British Heart Foundation Centre for Cardiovascular Science at the University of Edinburgh, and senior author of the study.
“These findings will be particularly important for health screening in older men who are already typically at a higher risk of type 2 diabetes. We will now continue our studies to better understand the long-term outcomes so we can better identify patients at greater risk,” she add.
As the number of men who suffer from prostate health issues continue to increase, experts are strongly recommending some ways to help males protect and enhance their prostate health.
It is worth realizing that some natural remedies like curcumin are scientifically found helpful. This polyphenol can actually be found in a spice called turmeric, which has long been used in Ayurvedic and traditional Chinese medicine.
In many research studies, curcumin has been found to have genoprotective, antifungal, adaptogenic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anticarcinogenic, antiproliferative, antiviral, renoprotective, insulin-sensitizing, androgenic, antifibrotic, neurorestorative, and metal-chelating properties.
It also contains anticoagulant, antiseptic, anti-platelet, antioxidant, anti-amyloidogenic, anti-cytotoxic, antibiotic, antimicrobial, anti-purulent, immunomodulating, and anticatabolic agents.
Scientists suggest that this natural remedy may work wonders in fighting prostatitis as well as other serious prostate health issues. It has been particularly found useful for men with enlarged prostate, and this is mainly due to its strong inflammation-fighting properties.
In addition to its prostate-health-protecting benefits, curcumin may also work wonders in delivering a range of health benefits. Today, formulas like Divine Bounty Curcumin are widely resorted to by consumers (http://amazon.com/Turmeric-Curcumin-BioPerine-Pepper-Extract/dp/B00VSVKJ8I).
