(Newswire.net — December 15, 2022) Orlando, FL — Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is one of the hormonal health issues that the scientific community investigates today. It is worth noting that this condition is widespread around the globe.

A study now shows acupuncture, exercise may actually be helpful to PCOS sufferers. More particularly, the research has shown that exercise and electro-acupuncture treatments can lessen sympathetic nerve activity in women with the polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS).

The findings of this research are important due to the fact that women suffering from PCOS often have increased sympathetic nerve activity. This actually plays a role in hyperinsulinemia, insulin resistance, obesity, and cardiovascular disease

The research has also revealed that the electro-acupuncture treatments resulted in more regular menstrual cycles, lessened testosterone levels, and decreased waist circumference.

Exercise, on the other hand, had no impact on the irregular or non-existent menstrual cycles that are actually common in women with hormonal health issues, nor did it reduce waist circumference.

“The findings that low-frequency electro-acupuncture and exercise decrease sympathetic nerve activity in women with PCOS indicates a possible alternative non-pharmacologic approach to reduce cardiovascular risk in these patients,” said one of the researchers, Dr. Elisabet Stener-Victorin of the University of Gothenburg, Sweden.

The researchers have further deemed the findings regarding menstrual cycles and reduction in testosterone levels in the low-frequency electro-acupuncture are also of interest.

The study is called “Low-frequency electro-acupuncture and physical exercise decrease high muscle sympathetic nerve activity in polycystic ovary syndrome.”

It was conducted by Elisabet Stener-Victorin, Elizabeth Jedel, Per Olof Janson, and Vrsa Bergmann Sverrisdottir, all of the Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, Sweden, and the Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden.

The study is in the online edition of the American Journal of Physiology-Regulatory, Integrative and Comparative Physiology, published by The American Physiological Society.

“This is the first study to demonstrate that repeated low-frequency electro-acupuncture and physical exercise can reduce high sympathetic nerve activity seen in women with PCOS,” according to the authors.

Today, studies that look into plant-based remedies against PCOS continue to increase. These include the healing benefits of a plant compound called Diindolylmethane (DIM), which has long been associated with disease-fighting effects.

Studies have demonstrated it helps normalize hormone levels, and even promotes positive changes to estrogen metabolism. In taking advantage of the healing goodness of this remedy, it is wise to consider the use of Purest Vantage DIM.

This remedy has 250mg Diindolylmethane Plus BioPerine and Dong Quai and is made carefully in an FDA-inspected facility in the U.S (http://www.amazon.com/DIM-Diindolylmethane-250mg-Per-Capsule/dp/B072C46H29)
