(Newswire.net — August 26, 2016) West Creek, New Jersey — Anchor Appliance continues to do business after a massive fire broke out at their store on Route 9 in the West Creek area of Eagleswood Township in New Jersey. The fire, which started before 5:00pm on Saturday, July 30, 2016, destroyed the nearly 8,000 sq ft building and all of the stock and contents.
Anchor Appliance owner Butch Dieckman has recently stated that while he should have been out of business with this total loss, he made the decision the following Monday that he would keep going. That day, the company had 65 customers on the schedule, and they managed to get all of the scheduled service and deliveries done.
Many of the residents declared their loyalty and hoped the company would rise from this major fall. However, some of the customers believe that they are completely out of business, prompting the company to announce that they are in fact still open and doing business. “The feedback from the community when they saw our trucks rolling Monday was awesome,” says Butch, “but the fact is a lot of people think we are out of business.”
Butch said that he was driving north on the Garden State Parkway when a phone call informed him of the fire. He then exited and turned around. “As I was going south, I saw the smoke. When you hear ‘fire,’ you don’t know how bad it could be until you see smoke from 5 miles away.”
Despite this major loss, Anchor Appliance, which has been serving their customers since 1968, remains to sell a variety of major appliances including air conditioners, BBQ, dishwashers, freezers, washers and dryers, microwaves and refrigerators. They are an authorized dealer for many major brands, such as Amana, Frigidaire, GE, KitchenAid, Maytag, Sharp, Weber, Whirlpool, Sub Zero and many more.
According to reports, the fire was accidental and may have been caused by heat and humidity. Michael Imbrenda, an employee of Anchor Appliance for 21 years, locked up for the day at 4:30 in the afternoon and left for 7-Eleven. When he came back, the fire had already started, and it unfortunately spread very quickly. Deputy fire marshal Bob Cook did not go into further detail, but Imbrenda said that “an air conditioner motor seized up and caught fire.”
The three-alarm fire drew firefighters from miles away, and affected about 15 companies in the neighborhood. Firefighters had to battle with it for several hours before it was completely put out. Thankfully New Jersey state troopers were able to save the owner’s dog, Daisy.
Anchorage Electric was able to quickly adjust to business as usual also thanks to firefighters putting out the fire in a timely manner. Firefighters risk their lives every day to keep us safe. Everyone is encouraged to appreciate what these men and women do every day and to honor firefighters, the heroes who save people from fire.
