New York-based US healthcare company, CareCard™, has announced the launch of its updated pharmacy card.

With the latest announcement, Care Card is offering Americans affordable prices on over ten thousand FDA-approved branded and generic medications.

The launch provides US consumers with a card that can be used to access preferential rates on most prescriptions, at over 60,000 pharmacies nationwide.

The increasing cost of prescription drugs in the United States has become a source of concern for patients, prescribers, payers, and policymakers alike. This is because America spends more on these medications than any other first-world country and prices are typically not regulated.

Furthermore, over the past decade, insurance companies have started passing 25% to 80% more drug costs onto hapless patients. Many Americans also do not have medical insurance or are underinsured. CareCard’s pharmacy card has been specifically designed to address these issues.

The card can be requested via email, text, or printed directly from the company website. Using it simply entails searching for a branded or generic prescription medication on the online platform and doing a price comparison between nearby pharmacies.

A complimentary coupon is then issued, which can be shown to a pharmacist, along with the card. Savings are automatically applied at the checkout counter.

While a card can be issued to those on medical insurance plans, it is not a form of medical insurance. The pharmacy card can instead be used in place of insurance when purchasing prescription medication.

The benefits of the pharmacy card include an average saving of 65% and savings of up to 85% off the retail price of prescription medication at most pharmacies. It also offers special prices for every member of the family – including pets. The card has no expiration date and requires no joining fees, obligations, or credit cards.

CareCard was founded by CEO David Hannon, in 2018, in his quest to provide affordable prescription healthcare at the lowest cost. The venture-backed company partners with a range of organizations and healthcare providers to achieve this goal. With headquarters in New York City, the company currently operates only in the United States and Puerto Rico.

The company’s Chief Medical Technologist, Dr. Bob Arnot, said: “At CareCard, we’re focused on making prescription meds affordable for everyone, regardless of income or insurance status.”
