(Newswire.net — June 1, 2022) Orlando, FL — Depression affects hundreds of thousands of people around the globe. It reduces the overall quality of life and even the health of sufferers.

Various studies carried out in the past have shown that certain measures are incredibly helpful in battling this mental health issue. These include activities like yoga, which has long been scientifically linked with a myriad of health benefits.

A study was carried out and presented at the 125th Annual Convention of the American Psychological Association.

In this research, it has been found that individuals struggling with depression may potentially benefit from yoga as a complement to traditional therapies. Further, the study reveals that such a practice appears to lessen symptoms of the disorder.

According to Lindsey Hopkins, Ph.D., yoga has become increasingly popular in the West, and many new yoga practitioners cite stress reduction and other mental health concerns as their primary reason for practicing.

Hopkins is from the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center and chaired a session highlighting research on yoga and depression.

“But the empirical research on yoga lags behind its popularity as a first-line approach to mental health,” she adds.

This study concentrated on the acceptability and antidepressant effects of hatha yoga. This is the branch of yoga that emphasizes physical exercises, combined with meditative and breathing exercises, which can enhance well-being.

A study was carried out and it involved 23 male veterans who took part in yoga classes twice-weekly for eight weeks. It has been found that the average enjoyment rating for the yoga classes for these veterans was 9.4, on a scale of 1 to 10.

Depression continues to affect more and more people today. There are antidepressants available and are widely used by individuals diagnosed with the condition. However, it is important to take precautions in using them.

This is due to the fact that some antidepressants are linked with the increased odds of suicidal thoughts and violence.

Health authorities have long been stressing the relevance of making dietary and lifestyle improvements for brain health. There are fruits, vegetables, and even spices like turmeric found to have antidepressant benefits.

Turmeric has long been researched due to its strong medicinal potential. Some studies show that curcumin contains has a wide selection of healing agents.

It has genoprotective, antifungal, adaptogenic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anticarcinogenic, antiproliferative, antiviral, renoprotective, insulin-sensitizing, androgenic, antifibrotic, neurorestorative, and metal-chelating properties.

It also contains an anticoagulant, antiseptic, anti-platelet, antioxidant, anti-amyloidogenic, anti-cytotoxic, antibiotic, antimicrobial, anti-purulent, immunomodulating, and anti-catabolic agents.

It may be an excellent addition to one’s depression-fighting diet. To benefit from its use, it may be wise to take into account formulas like Divine Bounty Curcumin (http://www.amazon.com/Turmeric-Curcumin-BioPerine-Pepper-Extract/dp/B00VSVKJ8I).
