Emerging Study Now Suggests Extra Body Fat Increases Breast Cancer Risk

(Newswire.net — May 10, 2019) Orlando, FL — Researchers have been conducting studies on the link between fat and cancer. This life-threatening condition has no cure yet, and continues to affect millions worldwide.

Mia Gaudet, strategic director of breast and gynecologic cancer research for the American Cancer Society, said that women should not just concentrate on weight.

This is a recommendation made after a study showed that older women with extra body fat may be at an increased risk of breast cancer. More importantly, this stays true even if their weight is normal.

Women are however advised to focus on the measures they can resort to in decreasing levels of body fat. This includes having healthy diet and lifestyle, such as engaging in regular exercise.

In previous research, it has been found that obese and overweight women in general have a greater risk of breast cancer after menopause. Physicians have long relied on the body mass index (BMI) to see if weight is normal or not.

According to lead researcher Dr. Neil Iyengar, BMI is actually not the best indicator of one’s risk for conditions like heart disease and type 2 diabetes.

Iyengar is a medical oncologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, in New York City.

The problem is that BMI is unable to distinguish between muscle, bone, and fat. It is easy to assume it is an imprecise gauge of body composition.

The results of the study were based on 3,460 women aged 50 to 79 who were part of a large study called the Women’s Health Initiative.

All of the subjects had a normal BMI, and in a span of 16 years, 182 women developed breast cancer. A majority had minor tumors, which were estrogen receptor-positive, which means estrogen helps fuel their growth.

Scientists found that the subjects with higher body fat levels had an increased risk of ER-positive breast cancer.

Breast cancer is probably one of the scariest things that could ever happen to women. This is why it is imperative measures are taken to reduce its likelihood. Some natural remedies like curcumin have been speculated to be helpful in preventing breast cancer development.

Curcumin is an active ingredient in turmeric, which is an ancient medicinal spice. It has been found curcumin regulates processes in the cells, keeping tissues healthy.

It also has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that act on the breast tissue cells. It has been found to help prevent the formation of lumps and tumors despite the presences of cancer-causing carcinogens.

Researchers further found curcumin could inhibit metastasis in cases of advanced breast cancers. When breast cancer has already taken place, curcumin could slow down its spread to the lungs and other organs.

This powerful healing ingredient can be obtained through the use of VitaBreeze Curcumin, which is a highly potent and pure formula (http://amazon.com/Turmeric-Curcumin-Complex-Pepper-Extract/dp/B00JA4TLTI/).
