(Newswire.net — June 10, 2013) Denver, CO — Houston Tx-Filmmaker Darla Rae first met Brian’s parents Pastor Arthur Craig and his wife Barbara, of Woodhaven Baptist Deaf Church this past February when they attended the US Film festival premiere of her latest film Spirit of Love, the Mike Glenn story. The film received “Best Inspirational” film at the Texas Christian Film festival which was held in Houston.

Following the Q&A session after the screening Pastor Craig talked to her about a possible film project about his son Brian who was the first soldier from Houston killed in Afghanistan.

They spoke briefly that evening and a month later Pastor Craig emailed information regarding Brian and the now infamous last letter home. Rae read all the material and believes there is a story that can have an even greater impact within the body of a Christian family film.

It was snowing outside with blizzard like conditions at home in Colorado, so I decided to read all the material and research Brian and the letter. I must admit I couldn’t stop reading, it left me wanting to know more, even if it was through tears. It wasn’t a soft sad cry it was a deep heartfelt cry, that made me want to help tell this story and to share it in a way that only film can convey. My job as a filmmaker is to bring stories to the world that makes it better for people. In film we have the ability to show people that his life counted for something and so can theirs. This story does that. I want to be the person to help fulfill Brian’s last request, and his parents desire to continue sharing and changing lives with” Brian’s Story, Beyond the Grave”, I’m grateful that I have some LA talent who are interested in this project. However the majority if not all of cast and crew will be recruited from Houston and surrounding cities. I lived and worked here, and raised my daughter here for 12 yrs. I had the honor and privilege to work for Jeannette Clift George at the A.D. Players during my time in Houston, and I directed several productions for dinner theater for my own company, and I know one thing for sure. There is some amazingly talented people right here in Houston, said Rae.

The film will be shot as a “SAG” indie film in and around Houston in the fall provided the funds can be raised which will be done through various crowd funding avenues, business advertising and through those who knew Brian’s story and share in his message.

Darla Rae and her company Film It Productions does films that uplift .motivate, encourage, and inspire audiences. Rae will be here in town to meet with Pastor Craig and those who will attend an informal meeting held on Thursday June 20th at 6:30pm at Woodhaven Baptist Deaf Church located at 9920 Long Point Rd. Houston Tx 77055

Those who desire to help bring this film to fruition can contribute through the crowd funding campaign or through advertising and product placement opportunities for businesses or individuals who want to participate. Our initial plan is to shoot the film in October 2013.

A percentage of proceeds from the film will go to benefit the nonprofit to help increase the outreach to families who have suffered loss.
