Fires Are Ravaging the West Coast, Including LA

(Newswire.net — August 6, 2020) — During the past few years, climate change has altered the way people look at the planet. One of the reasons why is that natural disasters are more common than ever before. This includes wildfires. The West Coast is a particularly dry part of the country, leading to wildfires with regularity. While some people say that fires are a natural part of this planet, they also have the potential to cause serious property damage. They could even kill people. This is why it is important to rely on the protection of a Fire Watch Service.

Already during the summer of 2020, more than 8,000 people have been forced to evacuate. There is a wildfire in the area of LA that has destroyed more than 26,000 acres with only five percent containment. This fire has impacted an area that stretches from Cherry Valley into the San Bernardino National Forest. This has already destroyed at least one home and is continuing to spread.

As a result, firefighters have had to get creative. There are gusts up to 14 MPH that only make it harder for them to contain the fire. As the winds increase and the humidity drops, the fire is going to get worse.

In today’s era, a lot of firefighting is done through the air. There are helicopters and planes that are flying overhead, dropping water on the fire in order to continue to fight it. With large buckets that drop hundreds of gallons of water at a time, this is just one of the ways that professionals are trying to combat these flames.

In total, more than 2,200 firefighters have been assigned to the fire. This includes 260 engines and 29 hand crews. With so many people, it is amazing that the fires continue to burn. This simply goes to show the power of these fires and how hard it is for them to contain the blaze. They are even saying that the acreage of these fires is expected to grow despite how hard they are fighting.

While a lot of the focus has been on containing the current blaze, it is also important to take a look at what can be done to prevent these fires from arising. While there isn’t much that can be done about the dry weather, it is important for everyone to come together to try and slow the rate of climate change. This means taking steps to reduce the carbon footprint of man while trying to reverse the damage that has been done.
