The announcement by Georgia’s leading home health nursing organization is intended to alert family members that they may be eligible to be paid for the home care provided to loved ones, including biological and legal relatives.
Health care trends including remote patient monitoring, telehealth, and the ongoing pandemic make home care more important than ever to public health policy. According to CMS, the federal agency that administers Medicare and Medicaid, keeping loved ones in their own homes as long as possible is a priority not only for beneficiaries but also for government payers.
Structured Family Caregiving is a Medicaid program that offers financial support for care delivered at home by a family member living with the beneficiary. The program includes training and professional health coaching.
Financial compensation for eligible caregivers is provided weekly and tax-free.
To be eligible to receive financial compensation the caregiver must be at least 18 years old and live at home with their loved one as the primary caregiver. The person receiving care must be Medicaid eligible and participating under Georgia’s Medicaid waiver programs SOURCE or Community Care Services Program.
Family home health aides and caregivers in the Structured Family Caregiving program provide essential daily assistance to loved ones in the comfortable and familiar surroundings of their own homes.
Services provided by the caregiver in a Structured Family Caregiving in-home setting include household tasks, personal care, and support with activities of daily living. Specific activities include housekeeping and meal preparation; bathing, dressing and personal hygiene; and managing appointments and medication.
These and other tasks support the quality of life and safety of the beneficiary and are provided by a trusted loved one in a setting that fosters the family member’s health, well-being and independence.
HomeNurse Inc. was founded in 1983 by registered nurses to provide quality in-home healthcare to Georgians regardless of their economic status.
The organization provides clients with in-home care, as well as services in other settings, including companion and sitter services, personal support assistants, skilled nursing care by registered nurses or licensed practical nurses (RNs or LPNs), and respite care that gives primary caregivers a break from their caregiving duties.
“HomeNurse has developed a reputation for delivering high-quality service to our clients,” a spokesperson said. ”We strive to provide the best in-home healthcare each and every day.”
