(Newswire.net — August 22, 2013) Mooresville-North Carolina The recent North Carolina Hospital Association annual meeting took place in Asheville at the historic Grove Park Inn. An exciting healthcare platform was provided for all attendees including NCHA professional members, strategic alliance partners and exhibitors.
“NCHA participation has helped Horizon CSA gain an invaluable network and better understanding of what services hospitals and our innovative industry leaders seek, support and appreciate”, Said Paul Levesque, V.P. of Marketing & Business Development for Horizon CSA.
Levesque continues, “In addition, Hospital CEOS, Chief Administrators and Physician Executives as well as Board Members had the opportunity to visit with us at our NCHA Horizon exhibit to discuss their facilities’ status, review Horizon’s customer-centric medical technology management solutions or to simply eludicate their own unmet needs from current in-house biomedical departments or alternative biomedical service providers.
Further reports by attendees were that the NCHA Conference included riveting presentations, social networking opportunities and professional development. Both days and nights provided non-stop opportunities for individual participants to maximize their healthcare mindshare.
A panel of innovative presenters illuminated the audience with ‘top of mind” healthcare issues and innovative solutions to healthcare delivery via case studies, slides, videos, and metrics. Select speakers included Pete Knox, Ex. Vice President and Chief Learning & Innovation Officer for Bellin Health Systems in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Mr. Knox spoke on the “business of healthcare”. Also present was John Buford, President and CEO of Truman Medical Centers in Kansas City, Missouri. Mr. Buford made a riveting presentation on “Truman’s Passport to Wellness” which has been successfully deployed in communities where “frequent users” of hospital services alter their lifestyle in constructive ways leading to a reduction of hospital visits.
They were joined by Dr. Gary Gunderson, Vice President of Faith and Health at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center who spoke on the innovative ways he has collaborated with 500 congregations in the Memphis community to lower healthcare costs and improve quality in difficult populations. Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center is leading the way to resurrect the notion of patient healing as a strategic alliance between faith and the healthcare provider community. Of particular significance was the presentation provided by Ms. Sue Collier who spoke on the subject of patient-family engagement. Ms. Collier is one of North Carolina’s leading experts on patient-family engagement, and is on staff at the North Carolina Quality Center as a Performance Improvement Specialist.
The piece de resistance was the presentation by Lee Woodruff, a lifelong storyteller and contributor to ABC’s Good Morning America and to CBS News’ CBS This Morning. Lee is the co-author of a book along with her husband Bob Woodruff on the profoundly important issue of traumatic brain injury. Their book “In an Instant” which describes their life change after Bob, a journalist, was hit by an IED in Iraq. This book is a provocative read for any healthcare professional seeking an understanding of how traumatic brain injury impacts families.
Horizon CSA facilitates patients like Bob and countless others every day in hospitals and outpatient centers through their “stealth” leadership and med-tech “insider” viewpoints. Horizon’s “extreme biomedical support team” is passionate about providing highly technical support for sophisticated life saving diagnostic, therapeutic and remedial medical equipment.
