A new ebook called Appetite Control for Life describes numerous tips and strategies that can be used to avoid weight gain during the holidays.  Many people look forward to celebrating with family and friends, but also experience anxiety about losing control of their appetites when faced with the bounty of rich and starch-laden foods.

This approach focuses on the habits we form around eating and our relationship to food, most of which can be traced to our original households and the way food was handled in our families. These habits become unconscious over time, but can easily be uncovered and changed with some simple ongoing practices that form a new path to lifelong weight control.

There are huge benefits to learning to control the appetite, that go beyond the obvious impact on weight loss and health.  Since our relationship to food is so basic and seems mysterious to many people, learning to control this insistent urge leads to confidence and self-mastery that can improve other areas of our lives. As one reader claimed,  “Once I learned to control my appetite and lost my fear of social events because I dreaded overeating, I realized I could achieve other goals as well.”

An example of a simple strategy that can produce quick results is to Eat Before Celebrating.  Instead of cutting back on food all day before a party and arriving feeling ravenous, the idea is to stop and eat some protein-rich food within an hour before attending.  Sliced turkey or chicken, hard-boiled eggs, string cheese or a half-cup of nuts would be good choices.  Arriving at the party feeling satisfied instead of starved takes the focus off the buffet table and to connecting with friends and meeting new people.

The strategies in this book can be implemented by anyone and are designed to be integrated into the lifestyle little by little.  Included are chapters on feasting and fasting, along with numerous tips and tricks that can be incorporated into daily life.
