(Newswire.net — April, 5 2013) Austin, TX — A celebration featuring  Marcia Ball, Carolyn Wonderland , Ruthie Foster, Shelley King and a cast of Texas music headliners and sidemen will perform as part of an all-night, all-star tribute celebrating the legendary singer, songwriter Miss Lavelle White to announce releasing “HOME IS WHERE THE MUSIC IS” on April 10th at 8PM. The celebration will be held at Antone’s Home Of The Blues, 2015 E. Riverside Drive, Bldg. 4 in Austin, Texas and tickets are available.

Back in October 2012 there was another concert. And what they hope to happen on April 10th is another evening of great music, warm camaraderie and more memories in honor of and starring Miss LaVelle White.

Over the course of seven decades of performance, soul music’s own Lavelle White (“Miss Lavelle” to fans and friends) has shared the stage with the likes of Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin, Buddy Guy and scores of others. Her songs, including “I’m Gonna Make It,” “If I Could Only Be With You” and “Lead Me On” (a massive hit for Bobby Blue Bland) have proven as durable as their creator.

But apparently even that kind of resumé does not pay the rent. As 2012 dawned, Miss Lavelle—who has lived in Austin, Texas for over 20 years–found herself in perilous straits and in need of affordable housing.

Thus  H.O.M.E. (Housing Opportunities for Musicians & Entertainers), a collective of some of the city’s most respected female performers and music industry professionals, was born. These women sprang into action by organizing a concert and silent auction to come to the aid of a woman who had been a friend and inspiration to them all.

It was a success and today Miss Lavelle is still going strong at 83 years and sleeping under her own roof.

The CD is the recording of the original live show from October 2012 and will be on sale at the door as well as  from H.O.M.E.  Just some of the scheduled artists that will be performing are Ruthie Foster, Carolyn Wonderland, Cole El-Saleh, Rob Hooper, Rodney Craig, Rosie Flores, Shelley King and many more with the incomparable, Miss Lavelle White.

To get tickets to this historic event, they are available at www.antones.net For VIP tickets they are   $120 table for 4 / General Admission $15

The doors will open at 7PM, and the show will start at 8PM

About H.O.M.E.
H.O.M.E (Housing Opportunities for Musicians & Entertainers), a new non-profit organization based in Austin TX not yet a 501c(3) but they  are working in that direction, strives to create more security for aging musicians of the Austin, Texas music scene, by pursuing low cost housing for them, and providing other assistance, including referrals to other available resources. The performers who put Austin on the musical map have spent most of their careers working without a safety net. As they age, the fall from the tight rope becomes increasingly perilous. H.O.M.E. works to channel the generous donations of those who love Austin music toward easing those challenges. As they put it, ” We are currently focused on assisting with the housing needs of Miss Lavelle White, an international music icon. She is our ‘test case’ and honorary ‘poster child’ for this initial effort.”
