(Newswire.net — May 11, 2019) Richmond, BC — Robyn McTague, Master Relationship Mender, has partnered with International Best-selling author Madeleine Davis and other contributors to provide relief and skills for every mom out there. As a way of giving back, the book will be available for free on Mother’s Day, May 12, 2019, for 5 days.

Robyn’s chapter is on Partner Conflict Resolution. Most people did not grow up in a family where conflict was addressed in a healthy and direct manner. Subsequently we fall back into these old unhealthy patterns and habits in times of conflict and stress. In her Chapter, she outlines some key steps to move from these old ingrained unhealthy habits to respectful, collaborate skills that will improve relationships both within the family and can be used in any setting.

According to the Journal of Psychology and Clinical Psychiatry 2017 (volume 7 issue 2), there is a direct link between inter-parental conflict and in the health and emotional development of children. This has been established for both intact and divorced families. Parental conflict was found to negatively impact children across all ages in terms of emotional, social, academic and health problems. Even when the conflict is not directed to the children, children are still affected in their emotional security and regulation. Children also emulate what they see and take what they have witnessed into their own interactions outside of the family. They can also internalize these conflicts and take on guilt, shame, fear and sadness, which negatively impacts their emotional well-being and development. The result is a high health and economic burden for all areas of society.

“We all want what is best for our kids. Unfortunately, we weren’t raised with partner conflict resolution skills. I grew up in a family with a rageaholic dad and a mom who was so terrified, she didn’t say a word out of fear. There were 2 extremes, either explosive anger or the simmering inside. I learned growing up that passive aggressive behavior was the way to deal with anger. With my own experience I learned about the human mind, relationships and conflict resolution to find a healthy and constructive way to address these skills that are lacking in many families. It can feel overwhelming when we have so much to do and take care of as moms. To learn some skills that can help with these feelings of overwhelm and bring some clarity of what to do next, this book will help. If you are looking for support in learning these skills, Robyn’s company can be found at https://www.ALifeofChoice.ca

“Remember that the only person we can change is ourselves and by starting with learning these skills, we can change the environment and our interactions. We can then affect others and the situations we find ourselves in. “

The book The One Thing Every Mom Needs To Know’ will be available on Amazon.com on Mother’s Day.
