Old Colony Elder Services Celebrates 40th Anniversary

(Newswire.net — October 22, 2014) Brockton, MA — Old Colony Elder Services (OCES), the Brockton based regional agency serving older adults and individuals with disabilities throughout greater Brockton and Plymouth County, marked their 40th Anniversary with a luncheon celebration held at Massasoit Conference Center in Brockton on September 18, 2014. The theme of the celebration was “The Past, Present and Future of Home Care”.

Former Massachusetts Governor Michael Dukakis gave the keynote address. Sue Temper, Assistant Secretary of the Executive Office Of Elder Affairs; Mike Festa, State Director of AARP Massachusetts; and Ted Lang, President of OCES Board of Directors also spoke to the audience of 300 which included government officials, representatives from other Aging Services Access Points, local business people, as well as OCES Board of Directors and staff.

In a ceremony following the address, Old Colony Elder Services was honored with two citations. Senator Thomas Kennedy presented Diana DiGiorgi, Executive Director of OCES, with a citation signed by himself and Senate President Therese Murray. Brockton Representative Michael Brady and Easton/Brockton Representative Claire Cronin also presented DiGiorgi with a citation signed by every representative in OCES’ service area. 

Mayor Bill Carpenter made the proclamation, “September 18, 2014 is declared as OCES Day in the City of Brockton”.

“Our anniversary theme, ‘The Past, Present and Future of Home Care’ represents OCES’ notable journey of supporting the independence and dignity of elders and individuals with disabilities and the promotion of healthy and safe living over four decades. The commitment, dedication and hard work of our entire staff coupled with that of our provider agency partners remains key to our success,” said DiGiorgi.
