(Newswire.net — June 4, 2013) Tampa, FL — Janitorial and cleaning companies that work in schools must have a well designed plan as far as how they plan to tackle the cleanup of schools while they are not in session. A written plan is a good place to start and designing a template for procedures makes life easy for all janitors and cleaners as they go about their tasks.
The best approach is to have a firm set of ideas as to delegation of duties and responsibilities. Who, when, and where should be detailed as to the projects involved.
Floor care where foot traffic throughout the course of the school year experiences a lot of wear and tear and where such cleaning is prohibitive. Segmenting the floor spaces into categories of general cleaning where scrubbing versus detailed stripping and refinishing is necessary. Some areas may only need and require a detailed cleaning.
A janitorial closet should be addressed where any chemicals and detergents lingering in the closets should be discarded. Any products lasting six months or more should actually be thrown away.
Many schools and building facilities have made a conscious effort to go green. This is a good time to make such a transition. In order to follow good green practices, there is training and education required and this slower time can allow for this.
This is also an excellent time to evaluate cleaning equipment and upgrade or replace any equipment like floor polishers that need rotary changes or new parts that undergo much wear and tear throughout the school year.
Furniture conditions should also be inspected. Chairs, desks, tables, counters, and shelves should be reviewed for safety and durability.
Restroom and shower facilities need to be tiled and grouted. The summer months enable a good opportunity to do this where they must be sanded and cleaned with ample opportunity to dry effectively.
Light bulbs should all be inspected and replaced with low voltage bulbs that can offer longevity and as well as minimum energy consumption.
And last but not least, utilize this time to train janitors and cleaning staff members for procedures and equipment uses. There is no better time for instituting effect and good procedural habits during the off season while students are not everywhere where it would be impossible to institute new practices.
