Researchers Highlight Link In Between Fatter Legs and High Blood Pressure

(Newswire.net — December 2, 2021) Orlando, FL — Various research studies have long been studying some factors that potentially contribute to the onset of hypertension. Aside from dietary and lifestyle habits, a study has shown having fatter legs may have something to do with blood pressure levels.

This is a study presented at the virtual American Heart Association’s Hypertension 2020 Scientific Sessions. The meeting is a premier global exchange for clinical and basic researchers focusing on recent advances in hypertension research.

In this research, it has been found that adults with fatter legs had a reduced likelihood of having high blood pressure than those with a lower percentage.

“Ultimately, what we noted in this study is a continued discussion of ‘it’s not just how much fat you have, but where the fat is located,'” said principal investigator Aayush Visaria, M.P.H.,

Visaria is a fourth-year medical student at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in Newark, New Jersey.

“Although we know confidently that fat around your waist is detrimental to health, the same cannot be said for leg fat. If you have fat around your legs, it is more than likely not a bad thing and may even be protecting you from hypertension, according to our findings,” Visaria added.

The researchers looked into the rate of three types of hypertension in relation to the fat tissue percentage in the legs of almost 6,000 adults. It is worth noting that these subjects were enrolled in the 2011-2017 National Health & Nutrition.

Further, their average age was 37, almost half of them were female, and 24 percent suffered from high blood pressure.

It has been found that compared to individuals with reduced percentages of leg fat, subjects with higher percentages of leg fat were 61 percent less likely to have the type of high blood pressure where both numbers are high.

Scientists are undeniably researching more on the various aspects of hypertension. It is also worth noting that some plant-based remedies like the use of lion’s mane may be helpful for blood pressure regulation.

Lion’s mane is a medicinal mushroom that offers a myriad of health benefits. Today, it is even widely obtained through the use of formulas like Divine Bounty Lion’s Mane.

Some studies suggest it has neuroprotective, cardiovascular-health enhancing, anti-inflammatory, cognitive-decline-fighting, nerve repairing, blood-pressure-lowering, immunity-boosting, cholesterol-regulating, and weight management properties.

It may be obtained through the use of formulas like Divine Bounty Lion’s Mane, which is known for its high potency and purity. (amazon.com/Organic-Lions-Mane-Mushroom-Capsules/dp/B07LGR1KN7).
