(Newswire.net — July 13, 2020) Orlando, FL — Alzheimer’s disease continue to stay prevalent in many areas around the globe, especially in the U.S. Today, there are many studies recommending some ways to ward off the condition and detect it early on.
According to a new study, conducting an eye exam may help identify individuals with Alzheimer’s disease before they show any symptoms.
Dr. Rajendra Apte, says that all of us have a small area devoid of blood vessels in the center of our retinas that is responsible for our most precise vision.
Apte, co-principal investigator, is a professor of ophthalmology and visual sciences at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
“We found that this zone lacking blood vessels was significantly enlarged in people with pre-clinical Alzheimer’s disease,” Apte adds.
In previous studies, it has been found that the eyes of individuals who had died due to Alzheimer’s disease exhibited signs of thinning in the center of the retina as well as deterioration of the optic nerve.
The investigating team actually used a noninvasive technique called optical coherence tomography angiography to assess the thickness of the retinas and fibers in the optic nerves of 30 people.
It is worth noting these subjects were average age mid-70s and had no symptoms of Alzheimer’s.
The study was published Aug. 23 in the journal JAMA Ophthalmology.
Today, there are many remedies scientifically found useful in protecting and enhancing brain health. One is curcumin, which is a polyphenol found to deliver a range of health benefits.
It is important to realize that curcumin has been discovered by studies to possess a range of therapeutic properties.
These are genoprotective, antifungal, adaptogenic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anticarcinogenic, antiproliferative, antiviral, renoprotective, insulin-sensitizing, androgenic, antifibrotic, neurorestorative, and metal-chelating properties.
It also contains anticoagulant, antiseptic, anti-platelet, antioxidant, anti-amyloidogenic, anti-cytotoxic, antibiotic, antimicrobial, anti-purulent, immunomodulating, and anticatabolic agents.
Curcumin has been found to aid in the breakdown of the amyloid –beta plaques. It is important to realize that these plaques are linked with Alzheimer’s disease.
It is also worth realizing that this polyphenol has been reputed to offer a range of benefits, not just for brain health. This is why today, it is highly recommended even in fighting brain health issues like depression.
Some experts believe the strong pharmacological properties of curcumin could work in fighting a range of diseases. Today, formulas like VitaBreeze Curcumin could work wonders in delivering the disease-fighting benefits of this polyphenol.
