(Newswire.net — April 25, 2014) Bournemouth, DORSET — Led Zeppelin two archive tracks blues classic Keys to the Highway, recorded in 1970, and an early version of the famous song Whole Lotta Love are within a number of songs that will be officially unleashed with the reissues on June 3 this year.
Jimmy Page, guitarist has been listening to hundreds of tapes when going through the archives over a two and a half year period to come up with the best material. Whole Lotta Love which many claim to be one of the greatest rock and roll songs of all time has a number of differences between the early version and the original one.
The original was missing the first chorus and a middle section. There are new vocals on the finished version along with slide guitar. Page says, “You realise just how important all of those additional layers and the filigree work is.
There’s all manner of bells and whistles to make it the song Whole Lotta Love as we all know it. It’s reassuring revisiting the songs after all this time. It’s undeniable that we’re good. The band was the real deal. The new material deserves to be heard because it’s performance art.” Zeppelin fans have the chance to listen to some of the band’s main recording sessions.
A never released track which was destined for Led Zeppelin III, Keys to the Highway/Trouble in Mind, was recorded at the Olympic Studios in Barnes in 1970. Singer Robert Plant says, “It was a particularly prolific time, where we were learning about each other’s capabilities. Jimmy and I were just fooling around with the stuff that we would play at home. We were just trying things out.
Nothing was premeditated. My enthusiasm sometimes got in the way of finesse. I listen to it and go, wow, why didn’t I shut up a bit?” he laughs. “I kind of overcooked it.” Plant says the band will not reunite again “I don’t want to die and have somebody else do it,” he says. “I’m authoritative about what was done in the first place.”
Fans will be offered super deluxe reissues of the titanic live metal blues of “Communication Breakdown” along with deluxe editions of Led Zeppelin ‘II’ and ‘III.’ It will have a new unboxing video, attached above, showcases the remastered 180- gram vinyl version of ‘Led Zeppelin’ with replica sleeve, the second disc of audio extras, the hard-bound 70-page book, the high-quality print of the original album cover and the replica press kit that accompanied the original project.
Page says, “It is a selection of work in progress with rough mixes, backing tracks, alternate versions, and new material recorded at the time.”
So June 3 is the date for Zeppelin fans to note in the calendars.
