(Newswire.net — September 17, 2019) Orlando, FL — Health experts have long been warning against inflammation, which has been linked with the onset of certain symptoms and diseases. In a new study, it has been found to have different effects in the elderly population.
The new study from Örebro University and University of Nottingham found that in the elderly population, increased levels of CRP in the blood, which is an inflammation marker, is an underlying cause of muscle mass loss.
FawziKadi, Professor of Sports Physiology and Medicine at Örebro University, stated that they wanted more particularly to examine the link between CRP, an inflammaging marker, and muscle mass in elderly persons.
The body starts losing muscle mass at 40 years of age, and this pertains to some ten percent of the total muscle mass for every ten-year period. This may actually result in fall-related injuries, reduced quality of life, and slowing metabolism.
While it is not well understood why muscle mass decreases with age, some experts theorized it is due to inflammaging. This term pertains to chronic moderately elevated levels of blood inflammation markers.
C-reactive protein (CRP) can be measured in the blood, and used as a marker not just for inflammaging, but also infection in the body.
The findings of the study have shown that in women aged 65 to 70 years, there is a link between lower muscle mass and increased CRP levels in the blood. The scientists tried to see how CRP impacts muscle cell turnover and function.
Health experts have long warned against the effects of chronic inflammation. It is worth mentioning that when inflammation remains acute, it is beneficial rather than harmful. However, dangers come when inflammation starts getting chronic.
This is why there are many researchers who strongly discourage intake of pro-inflammatory foods, like processed food. What is strongly advised is the consumption of anti-inflammatory foods and spices like turmeric.
In traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine, turmeric has long been used for thousands of years due to its healing benefits. Today, it is widely studied due to the curcumin it contains.
According to scientists, curcumin has genoprotective, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anticarcinogenic, antibiotic, antimicrobial, anti-purulent, immunomodulating, anticatabolic, insulin-sensitizing, androgenic, antifibrotic, neurorestorative, and metal-chelating properties.
It even has antiproliferative, antiviral, renoprotective, anticoagulant, antiseptic, antioxidant, anti-amyloidogenic, and anti-cytotoxic agents.
While it has many healing properties, many researchers are studying on the powerful anti-inflammatory effects of curcumin.
Today, there are many who turn to the use of Divine Bounty Curcumin, which is a highly potent and pure formula (http://amazon.com/Turmeric-Curcumin-BioPerine-Pepper-Extract/dp/B00VSVKJ8I).
