(Newswire.net — January 19, 2022) Orlando, FL — Scientists continue to investigate the therapeutic effects of macrominerals like magnesium, especially in individuals who smoke cigarettes.

In a new Swedish study, it has been found that increased intake of foods rich in magnesium may decrease the risk of cerebral infarction in male smokers. It is worth mentioning that this condition occurs when there is a blockage in the blood flow to the brain.

The investigators at the Karolinska Institute of Stockholm looked into the diet, lifestyle, and health habits as well as the characteristics of 26,556 Finnish men.

It is worth noting that the subjects were between the ages of 50 to 69 years who smoked but never had a stroke.

It has been found in the follow-up that 2,702 of the men suffered from cerebral infarctions. Further, the investigators found 383 of them had intracerebral hemorrhages and 196 had subarachnoid hemorrhages.

The researchers also noted that 84 had unspecified types of strokes.

The findings were published in the March 10 issue of the Archives of Internal Medicine.

It is worth realizing that magnesium could potentially reduce blood pressure and may have an effect on cholesterol concentrations. It may even aid in the body’s ability to turn glucose into energy.

There are various mechanisms magnesium has been found to aid in inhibiting stroke. According to experts, the association between magnesium and stroke risk was the strongest for the type called an ischemic stroke.

This is where a clot causes a blockage in the blood vessel in the brain. Scientists found that the risk for ischemic stroke reduces by 9 percent for every added 10 milligrams of magnesium intake.

The study appears in the February issue of The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition

It is strongly recommended to increase intake of this macromineral to ward off not just stroke, but also other diseases.

It is worth realizing that in some studies, magnesium has been found to have anti-inflammatory, anticonvulsant, hypertension-regulating, diabetes-fighting, bone-health-protecting, neuroprotective, stress-reducing, and mood-boosting potentials.

All of these therapeutic agents could work wonders in delivering a range of healing benefits. Today, there are many people who have low levels of magnesium inside their bodies.

Experts have long been strongly warning against magnesium deficiencies as it could result in various undesirable health consequences. In addition to consuming magnesium-rich foods, it is important to take into account using formulas like Divine Bounty Magnesium Citrate.

This extra-strength formula continues to gain popularity in the global market today. Aside from being highly potent, it is also popularized by the citric acid it contains. It is worth realizing that citric acid enhances magnesium absorption inside the body (https://www.amazon.com/Divine-Bounty-Magnesium-Citrate-Supplement/dp/B01LYWPNY6).
