(Newswire.net — December 17, 2014)  — Scott Tucker, local retiree and Astoria resident, has recently constructed plans to clear trash from beaches along the Northern Oregon coastline. The project is comprised of three teams of volunteers, with Scott Tucker delegating the logistics. “Save Our Beaches” is expected to begin in March, and will focus on several beaches in the region.

“I’ve been attending these beautiful beaches for decades, and over the past few years I’ve noticed a large increase in pollution,” said Scott Tucker. “Now that I’m officially retired, I can focus my time on improving the beachgoing experience for our residents, and so the younger generation can share the same experience as me.”

Details of the project include clearing trash from 15 miles of the coastline, and installing trash and recycling bins near high traffic areas. According to Tucker, there are three teams of five people, who are all regional residents of the area.

“I’m thrilled with the project that Scott Tucker has assembled, and I can’t wait to make an impact in our community,” said Jenni Waters, friend of Scott Tucker. “Not only has the pollution affected our vacation areas, even worse, it has affected the natural habitat of the local marine life. “Save Our Beaches” will essentially send a message to visitors to be more mindful of protecting the environment and our backyards.”

The “Save Our Beaches” campaign will take one week to complete, which will occur throughout four weekends in the spring. Scott Tucker has stated that another project is likely to launch during summer.
