(Newswire.net — September 10, 2014)  — The announcement from Scott Tucker took place during a recent township board meeting in Clark County. Scheduled to open this spring, the shelter will be the county’s first and only animal rescue facility.

“I’ve decided to put my passion for animals to use and help create a positive change in the community,” Tucker said. “The amount of stray and unwanted pets in this area really breaks my heart; I cannot wait to be able to provide loving homes for them.”

After an animal has been taken to his shelter, Scott Tucker and staff will work diligently to feed, bathe, and quarantine the animal. In order to ensure that the best care is available, Scott has hired an experienced veterinarian that is capable of providing various levels of medical care.

“I’m very thrilled to be a part of Scott Tucker’s animal rescue team,” said veterinarian Stacy Ferguson. “The Clark County area has been a haven for homeless pets; we anticipate a significant decrease in the number of strays with this new project.”

While they’re waiting for their respective new homes, dogs and cats will have designated areas that provide ample room for play and stimulation. The staff will also spend time teaching positive behavioral practices, initiating regular feeding schedules, and encouraging interaction with other animals and humans so that the animals are properly socialized and well rehabilitated.

Persons interested in adopting a rehabilitated animal should expect to pay a small re-homing fee. In addition to the fee, an adoption test will be performed by a trained associate to ensure that the animal goes to a good home.

“The re-homing test is designed to be a series of simple questions that we’ll ask in order to ensure our animals don’t end up back on the streets,” said Scott Tucker. “As much as it is important to re-home an animal that has been neglected, it’s even more important that the potential home is loving and caring.”
