(Newswire.net — August 18, 2020) Orlando, FL — Experts have long been recommending some tricks to reduce stress levels, and these particularly include staying away from stressors.

According to researchers, managing stress levels may also be done by nourishing the body with certain types of food. Nuts are included in the list as they replenish the B vitamin stores that stress deplete.

Ellen Albertson, Ph.D., R.D., a psychologist in Burlington, Vermont, says that B vitamins keep our neurotransmitters in their happy place and help us handle the fight-or-flight stress response.

Penn State researchers have also discovered that intake of two servings of potassium-packed pistachios can reduce the strain stress places on the heart. It is also recommended to consume red peppers, which are loaded with vitamin C.

A study was published in the Psychopharmacology.

In this study, it has been found that intake of high vitamin C doses reduced blood pressure and promoted faster recovery from cortisol surge. Intake was made before the subjects engaged in stress-inducing activities.

Another highly recommended food is salmon, which has long been popularized by the omega-3 fatty acids it contains.

A study published in the Brain, Behavior, and Immunity reveals that intake of omega-3s like EPA and DHA for 12 weeks led to the 20 percent reduction of anxiety.

Some natural remedies may work inside the body to combat stress, and one is rhodiola. This powerful adaptogen has long been found to enhance the body’s resistance against stress.

In multiple research studies, it has been found that consumption of adaptogens like rhodiola during stressful times could aid in handling stressful situations better.

Scientists carried out a study involving 101 subjects with life- and work-related stress. The participants were treated with 400 mg per day for four weeks.

At the end of the study, rhodiola use was found to result in significant improvements in the symptoms of stress. These include exhaustion and anxiety and fatigue, and these remarkable results started to take place after just three days of rhodiola use.

It is also worth mentioning that the improvements lasted throughout the study. Rhodiola has also been shown to reduce the symptoms of burnout, which can happen along with chronic stress.

Another study was carried out and it involved 118 individuals with stress-related burnout. It has been found that rhodiola reduced many associated measures, which include stress and depression.

Aside from its stress-fighting benefits, rhodiola has also been found to work wonders in delivering many other healing benefits. Its use is highly recommended for preventive health purposes.
