(Newswire.net — June 13,2013) Washington DC — Steven Spielberg sees the day very soon that will have us paying $25 for the next Iron Man and $7 to see Lincoln. George Lucas sees fewer movies being released and stay in theathers longer. Lucas remembered E.T. was in the movies over a year.

The gang at CNBC discussed the higher movie ticket prices lead by Julia Boorstin, “so heres the question. Would you shell out $100 to see a movie”…

Two of the most successful filmmakers of all time were speaking at the University of Southern California. Spielberg said.”That’s the big danger, and there’s eventually going to be an implosion — or a big meltdown. There’s going to be an implosion where three or four or maybe even a half-dozen megabudget movies are going to go crashing into the ground,”…

George Lucas predicted ticket prices as high as $100. He said the movie-going experience will be more like a broadway show.

Speilberg had to co-own his studio to get Lincoln into theathers. He added it was close to being an HBO movie. Lucas had a hard time getting Red Tails released in theathers. To be fair to the studios they may have been right on these two movies.

Hollywood has an opportunity to redefine itsself before it becomes another AOL or Yahoo. This is big because the overseas movie market will drive the greed of Hollywood.Business as usual, with limited opportunities to give new talent and ideas a chance.

There will be more hyped big superhero movies and special effect hits like Fast & Furious 6. In the international market these type of movies translate better. Non stop action with minimal useful dialog.

Are you ready to shell out $100 to see a movie in its weekend opening? Maybe $50 the 2nd month, how about $25 if that movie won’t be released on DVD or cable for a long time. Maybe they are on to something,if the movie is good you want to see it before someone ruins the dramatic ending by telling you.

Remember, Comcast started out as a cable company. Maybe Netflex will own a major studio or a local station in the near future. This is a paridiam shift for Hollywood. This quote from Lyneka Little, WSJ As Lucas put it, “Everything else is going to look more like cable television on TIVO.”

With the breakup of Hollywood in the near future maybe “Total Recall” will be an option to keep us entertained. Total Recall lets you live your movie instead of just watching it.
