(Newswire.net — June 22, 2020) Winnetka, IL — The American Heart Association Statistics Committee and Stroke Statistics Subcommittee reveal that yearly, about 700,000 people suffer from a stroke in the United States.

Research further reveals that 500,000 of these are first strokes and the rest are repeat ones. Still in the country, someone suffers from it every 45 seconds.

It is the third most common cause of death among Americans, and it even accounts for about 1 of every 16 deaths. Further, it produces a death every 3 to 4 minutes.

The staggering statistics of this condition continue to encourage more and more researchers to carry out studies to learn more about it.

One study was published in the JAMA Neurology, which is monthly peer-reviewed medical journal by the American Medical Association.

In this research, it has been shown that women with a minor stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA) are less likely to be diagnosed with a stroke compared to men. This stays true even if they exhibit and reveal similar symptoms in emergency departments.

The study findings show that women and men were able to describe atypical stroke symptoms equally. These include dizziness, confusion, or tingling that are not commonly recognized as related to stroke.

It is worth realizing that the typical stroke symptoms are sudden weakness, face drooping, or speech difficulties.

According to study author Dr. Amy Yu, MD, in the study men were more likely to be diagnosed with TIA or minor stroke, and women were 10 per cent more likely to be given a non-stroke diagnosis, for example migraine or vertigo.

Dr. Yu is a stroke neurologist at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and assistant professor at the University of Toronto.

“Even though men and women were equally likely to report atypical stroke symptoms,” continues Dr. Yu.

It is interesting to note that today, there are quite a number of remedies found to be helpful in preventing stroke and helping in stroke recovery.

According to some experts, one is ashwagandha that is an ancient medicinal herb found to be helpful for individuals with stroke.

In a study, it has been found that pretreatment of ashwagandha in mice led to a decrease in the size of the blood vessels affected by stroke in the brain.

It is worth mentioning that ashwagandha is an antioxidant, and has been studied widely due to the various brain health benefits it could offer.

Today, there are supplements like NutraHerbals Ashwagandha found beneficial in delivering the healing goodness of this natural remedy (http://www.amazon.com/organic-ashwagandha-root-powder/dp/B01GZALWGO).
