(Newswire.net — May 19, 2022) Orlando, FL — Years of research has shown that consumption of fast food is linked with undesirable health outcomes. This is why more and more experts strongly recommend an increased intake of healthy foods.

A study has detected potentially harmful industrial chemicals in U.S. fast foods. The researchers have particularly found phthalates and other plasticizers in chicken burritos, cheeseburgers, and some other popular items in fast-food restaurants.

It is important to keep in mind that these chemicals are associated with a long list of serious health issues. Phthalates pertain to a group of chemicals used to make plastics soft. They are also known to disrupt the endocrine system.

In this study, researchers at George Washington University and their colleagues purchased fast foods from popular outlets.

“We found phthalates and other plasticizers are widespread in prepared foods available at U.S. fast-food chains, a finding that means many consumers are getting a side of potentially unhealthy chemicals along with their meal,” Lariah Edwards, lead author of the study and a postdoctoral scientist at GW, said.

“Stronger regulations are needed to help keep these harmful chemicals out of the food supply.”

There was a previous study carried out by a GW research team and spearheaded by Ami Zota, a professor of environmental and occupational health.

This research looked into fast food intake in a national survey and revealed that individuals who reported consuming more fast foods had increased levels of phthalates.

In this recent study, Edwards, Zota, and their colleagues bought 64 fast food items from different restaurants and three pairs of unused food handling gloves.

It was found that 81 percent of the food samples studied had a phthalate called DnBP and 70 percent contained DEHP. It is worth mentioning that both these chemicals have been associated with fertility and reproductive health issues in humans.

Phthalates have also shown the potential in increasing the risk of learning, attention, and behavioral disorders in childhood.

“Additional research needs to be done to find out whether people living in such food deserts are at higher risk of exposure to these harmful chemicals.”

Scientists continue to carry out studies looking into the effects of industrial chemicals on health. It is important to realize that today, more and more people are exposed to toxins and chemicals from food, personal care products, the environment, and even water.

When toxin levels build-up, it is believed to weaken the immune system and increase the risk of having certain diseases.

To have a body detox, it is wise to take into account the use of formulas like Divine Bounty Activated Charcoal. This all-natural highly adsorbent ingredient may work wonders in unburdening the system from toxins (amazon.com/Organic-Activated-Charcoal-Capsules-Whitening/dp/B071NZ5G56).
