Vancouver Plumber Discovers How To Eliminate Costly Plumbing Leaks

(Newswire.net — July 25, 2013) Vancouver, BC — After years of investigation the guys at Mr. Rooter realized a lot of local area homes spring undetectable plumbing leaks due to excessive water pressure. High water pressure is a common problem in regions close to mountains. Water pressure is high because in these areas because the city water supply is gravity fed from high above inhabited areas. Water pressure valves tend to give out quickly in these areas because of the relentless pressure they have to hold back.

In an interview with franchise owner Steve Kaldis of Mr. Rooter Vancouver, he told us the method they’ve developed is to turn off every water valve in the home and watch the water meter to see if it continues to move. If it still moves when the water is turned off it shows there is a hidden leak somewhere.

Once a hidden leak is identified, the technician goes through each valve one by one to find where the problem is. The solution is cost effective and has been well received by everyone they have helped this way. Once the individual leaks have been fixed they install a new water pressure reducing valve which solves the problem by relieving the pressure from the residential pipes.

Typical water pressure in a home should be set at 60 PSI. Whenever they perform this test they consistently find the pressure up around the 100 PSI mark. A water pressure reducing valve costs about $50 or a little more and is well worth the investment considering what it protects.

Plumbing Maintenance

Another common problem Mr. Rooter comes across is plumbing neglect. Try to think back and remember the last time you heard of someone who couldn’t sleep because they had plumbing on their mind. Sounds pretty silly doesn’t it, but the fact is a majority of homeowners would rather not concern themselves with matters like the plumbing, the roof, the furnace, or any of those things we franchise about lasting forever. When was the last time you saw a “square D” electrical breaker box in someone’s home? Same goes for the infrastructure in a house. Plumbing is an integral part of the home and needs to be looked at every year by a qualified Vancouver plumber
