High water pressure is a common problem in regions close to mountains. Water pressure is high because in these areas because the city water supply is gravity fed from high above inhabited areas. If it still moves when the water is turned off it shows there is a hidden leak somewhere.
Once a hidden leak is identified, the technician goes through each valve one by one to find where the problem is. The solution is cost effective and has been well received by everyone they have helped this way. Once the individual leaks have been fixed they install a new water pressure reducing valve which solves the problem by relieving the pressure from the residential pipes.
Typical water pressure in a home should be set at 60 PSI. Whenever they perform this test they consistently find the pressure up around the 100 PSI mark. A water pressure reducing valve costs about $50 or a little more and is well worth the investment considering what it protects.
