(Newswire.net — September 11, 2016) — PENSACOLA, Fla. — In an hour long speech Friday night in the Pensacola Bay Center, the Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump made promise after promise, especially regarding the US military, as the audience was largely military personnel.
Explaining how he plans to “Make America Great Again,” Trump said exactly what the roaring audience wanted to hear, regarding political, economic or diplomatic consequences. “By the way, with Iran, when they circle our destroyers with their little pipes and they make gestures at our people that they shouldn’t be allowed to make, they will be shot out of the water,” Trump said to thousands of active and retired military personnel.
Trump promised to increase all branches of the military, create more jobs and demonstrate US supremacy in negotiations. Every promise was followed by a large applause, especially when he talked about his opponent Hillary Clinton.
“She’s being so protected. She could walk into this arena right now and shoot somebody with 20,000 people watching, right smack in the middle of the heart and she wouldn’t be prosecuted, OK?” Trump said.
In his bulk of promises, Trump also pledged to destroy the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), created in 1990 by U.S. President George H. W. Bush, Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney and Mexican President Carlos Salinas.
The agreement enabled provision free trade between the US, Canada and Mexico. Although it was criticized as bad for the US economy, it actually helped by increasing trade between the countries. In a survey by leading economists, 95% supported the notion that on average, US citizens benefited from NAFTA.
The US Chamber of Commerce credits NAFTA with increasing US trade in goods and services with Canada and Mexico from $337 billion in 1993 to $1.2 trillion in 2011.
Trump, however, says that because of the agreement, major US companies have moved their productions to Mexico and Canada, leaving millions of Americans without jobs.
“Let’s say Ford moves to Mexico. If they want to sell that car in the United States they pay a tax. Here’s what’s going to happen, they’re not going to build their plant there. They’re going to build it in the U.S.,” Trump is quoted as saying in a release from the CBS network.
Addressing the military personnel at the Pensacola Bay Center, Trump promised he will “not let them take our jobs anymore,” if elected president.
“I’ll be the greatest jobs president that God ever created,” Trump said.
