Authentist On The Rise

Authenware is now the top leader worldwide in behavioral biometrics and announced an important agreement with the telecom giant, Telefónica. They will now begin utilizing Authenware’s security program in a large sector of the world wide telecommunications companies’ mobile and land line communications. Under this new agreement, Telefónica’s login protocols will start using the advanced Authentest software, confirming a user is indeed the actual user of the account by scrutinizing keystroke patterns and analyzing typing behavior. Authentest is now the de facto leader in the field of biometrics, and authentication software. The following is a recap of a statement made in Authentest’s press release on July 7th:

In every part of the world today, cyberspace is transforming into a more taxing, time consuming, and costly business expense. Governments and corporations both have put forth an effort to secure digital information by continually altering user names and passwords. As cyberspace keeps growing, security must transform to be less about diversification and more about focusing on the person. We are extremely happy to begin working with Telefónica to create an additional level of security that is personalized, allowing their accounts to become more secure by an individual’s habits instead of a simple username and password data that can be compromised.

This technology is impressive by any means, but this may make some people a little uncomfortable, this type of biometrics technology is getting really advanced, and the potential for the abuse of such technology is high. The emergence of an Orwellian style government (Big Brother) actually doesn’t sound too far fetched when you look at some of the stuff Authenware has cooked up. At any rate, this will undoubtedly offer opportunities for a level of personal online security we have never had access to before and that is exciting. One of the ways in which this technology could potentially save your data from being compromised, are the road blocks this new authentication software will put up for hackers.

Hackers will never be stamped out completely, but this will make their life much harder. If a hacker manages to get your login information, and log into your network, this software can potentially catch them very easily. This infrastructure will know your style, will know your particular way of typing, and will definitely catch on if a hacker is inserting complex code to harm your system, which is something that is obviously not your typical behavior. Under this new agreement, Authenware will supply Telefónica staff’s Information and Fraud Prevention division for additional security.

Once Authentest is a part of the system, all critical access points will be monitored with vigilance. Telefónica is a major player in the world’s telecommunications industry. They do entertainment, communication, and information working all throughout Europe and this deal is almost guaranteed to increase their market capitalization. Authentest is the name of the software that Authenware will be implementing. How it actually does what it does is it measures the rhythm, beat, and speed at which the user types in his data. If there is an inconsistency, it notifies fraud prevention. Authentest, as stated above, also monitors behavior patterns, and keeps tabs on the type of programs users run, type of sites the users visit in order to spot unauthorized users more efficiently.

Using this two prong approach, a hacker would be hard pressed to enter a system, do his dirty work, and get out clean without even a red flag being raised. Even though biometrics technology has a potential for abuse, does not mean that it doesn’t also have potential for great good. The days of online hacker supremacy is slowly drawing to a close, it’s a cyber war and the anti-hackers appear to be doing an excellent job combating their arch enemy.
