August 10, 2009 — Cellulite is a battle that many women feel that cannot be won. Women have reported feeling insecure about their bodies and feeling jealous of models and actors. The truth is that cellulite is very common among women in general. It doesn’t matter if you’re a movie star or a stay at home mom. The condition of cellulite is the dimpling of skin on the hip, leg and stomach areas. This usually occurs after puberty. Cellulite is triggered by a hormonal change is a woman’s body. Many people believe the stigma that if you are overweight, that is the cause for cellulite. This is not a condition that just affects women who are overweight. The condition has is known to be closely related to estrogen which explains why it is more dominant in women than men. Men have very flexible tissue which prevents cellulite buildup and they have less fat on their legs.

The foods that people eat do pay a major role in the development of cellulite. Diets that include high amounts of carbohydrates, fats and sodium put you at risk the most. Cellulite can range from light to severe in a matter of stages. In the first stage, cellulite cannot visibly be detected on the skin at all. The second stage will indicate some changes in the texture of the skin in some areas. There will still be very light visibility. The third stage shows very visible signs of cellulite and when the skin is touched the cellulite can be felt. The last stage is the most severe and can be painful is some cases. Lumps of cellulite actually attach itself deep within the layers of the skin and pushes outward, creating a dimpling result.

There have been countless rumors of regimes, cures, solutions and ways to prevent cellulite that have been tested by countless women all over the world. Many of these rumors are highly exaggerated. Many doctors have reported that there is really no cure for the condition of cellulite except by restructuring the skin.  Women surely had given up on a reliable treatment of the condition of cellulite until just one year ago.

Last year Body Benefits Medical Spa located in Houston, Texas presented a way for the restructuring of the skin to be available to appreciative clients. Owner, Sherry Summers-Ball created SmoothShapes, a medical laser treatment that helps fight cellulite and fat reduction. SmoothShapes is appealing because it actually works. The procedure is also pain free, non-surgical, non bruising and convenient. This pain free treatment uses a combination of mechanical manipulation and dynamic energy drawn from high-tech, professional equipment. Summers-Ball is providing a much wanted service. Her staff includes medical director Dr. Jeanne Southern who helps to lead a team of highly trained and educated doctors, clinicians and therapists. Patients who are seeking professional body contouring, pre surgical, or post surgical plastic surgery can receive all of these services in one office, now that the specialists have merged into one location. It is good to have leaders like Sherry Summers-Ball, who has a requirement for smart, innovative employees who actually care about meeting the needs of her clients.

SmoothShapes celebrated its one year anniversary on July 18, 2009. SmoothShapes has also been making national headlines while being featured on major television shows such as The View and The Today Show.  Jeana Keough, a cast member of “The Real Housewives of Orange County” is now the spokesperson for SmoothShapes. The success of such a service is no surprise as it allows women everywhere the opportunity to have a new attitude, a new look and a new body.
