Guitar-Wielding Malina Moye Breaks the Mold With New ‘Diamonds & Guitars’ Record

Los Angeles, August 18, 2009 (NEWSWIRE.NET) – Once in a long while you come across a diamond in the rough, or in this case — the riff.  Not since Hendrix has there been a singer, songwriter, upside-down, lefty guitarist to make waves in the music world. And not since, well, anyone, has the artist been a woman. From her debut record “Diamonds & Guitars,” Moye flexes her sultry vocals and heartfelt lyrics to the rock/soul-esque Billboard charter “Alone” — a haunting love letter that opens the record with solid groove and will make you perk up for the next nine. Melding genres and her electric guitar leads seamlessly throughout the rest of the album, Moye has penned seven of the ten tracks and features artists such as Layzie Bone of Bone Thugs N Harmony, who lends his piercing rap vocals to “Ain’t It A Shame,” a hard Bennie and the Jets groove with a social conscience. After a spicy meal of funky rock/soul, Moye plants an exclamation point, covering Hendrix’ own “Foxey Lady,” where her signature fuzz-wah sound helps give the track a raw edge as it tips its hat to the master himself. In the end, Moye and her producers Polar Bear, (Snoop Dogg, Korn, Krayzie Bone) and Charlie Singleton of Cameo have kept a mainstream appeal as they rock a new fresh sound on a completely organic record.

Not only is Malina Moye’s music outside the box, her self-founded WCE Records (Walking Commodities Ent.) also pushes the envelope as an independent label with a pervasive marketing approach that bridges grassroots with strategic Hollywood PR, and marries her cross-over music with style and fashion.
