The growing urban areas of Texas have placed new demands on energy suppliers. The entire nation is now embarking upon the development of Green Energy programs. Texas has always been a leading state in both energy production and energy use. The western areas of Texas, such as the areas surrounding Big Bend National Park, the towns of Marfa, Alpine, and Presidio have all the conditions for clean energy production. There are consistent winds normally most active in the late evening and night hours and suitable for wind plant, a high number of sunny days for solar panels, and millions of acres of open range land that can be used for the installation of such clean energy technology. The roads leading through these areas can be pathways for off road power lines to carry the clean energy to more populated areas where it is increasingly needed, while also supporting the growth of business and population in the western areas themselves. A fund of $500 million could be established for the creation of these clean energy installations along with training of personnel to maintain them and staff the power management offices needed.
West Texas has enormous potential as a region for power production. Already, electric companies in West Texas have planned to replace old power lines with new ones, connecting several West Texas towns. These power lines can be used to transmit energy produced by wind turbines and solar panel farms. Much of the land in the area is open grazing land. Many landowners will no doubt be pleased to offer easements for new power lines or to make agreements for energy production installations. Manufacturers on both sides of the Texas / Mexico border can set up factories in the area to construct clean energy technology such as wind turbines and solar panels. This will have the benefit of jobs creation, with the jobs created paying a minimum of $10 per hour. The income generated by this will help the families of the region to join in building better communities with greater attractions for other types of businesses to become established there. With the corollary use of energy efficient lighting in homes and businesses, conservation and recycling programs and efficient waste management, the region can become a powerhouse of clean energy and a paragon of low consumption / high output for the rest of the nation to emulate.
