Research and development is a fast moving field in the western world. We are constantly seeking new innovations, and smaller and more efficient technologies. There is a constant demand for the newest and fastest technologies, and becoming a supplier of these inventions would be of enormous benefit to the Texan economy.

Everyone has heard of Silicon Valley, where the greatest advancements in computer science were brought to the waiting world. These advancements poured money into the local economy, supporting individuals and business and making the entire region prosperous. The right advancement can do wonders for the economy, and Texas should become a part of this search, both for its own good and for the good of world progress.

The new big thing in research and development is energy efficiency and clean energy sources. The world is looking for the technology that will remove our dependency on foreign oil and remove our economic need to use highly polluting coal. The region that can create the advancements the world is looking for will reap the rewards of developing a product that is used in almost every business in the nation. It is not hard to imagine what business like that could do for a state’s economy.

The promise of finding the next big thing is not the only advantage to research and development, however. The research positions themselves will create new jobs and bring new and greater talent into the area. Research facilities will not only require skilled scientists, but also construction workers, lab assistants, maintenance staff, and any number of other positions that will breathe new life into the communities where the centers are placed.

Any new technologies discovered will not only earn money for the community, but will benefit Texas first, since that will be there area of production. If we are the leaders in new research, we will also be the first state able to implement these new improvements, benefiting from the most modern technology available long before it comes to the rest of the world. In addition, manufacturing facilities will be needed in order to produce these new innovations, creating even more employment opportunities for the people of Texas.

Research and development is the heartbeat of the modern world. It is where we determine what the course of business and technology will be for years to come. It would be incredibly beneficial for the Texan economy if we could become the forefront of this continuing movement for better, faster, and more efficient products.
