Springwine-a new wine for the 21st century

A new wine is here and it is called Spingwine.  You may know about Icewine, wine that is produced from frozen grapes which is very sweet and thick and mostly consumed as a dessert wine. Yet have you heard of “Springwine©”? It’s a new category of wine that is made from birch nectar or birch sap from birch trees, which is harvested in the spring of the year.

In the fall of the year, birch trees looses it leaves and they decompose over the winter.  Nurturance from those leaves is stored in the ground. In the spring as the snow melts, the tree will absolute vitamins and minerals through its root system and the sap will flow through the tree.  This sap is naturally filtered through the tree as the sap runs from the roots system, through the trunk and to the buds of the trees. It is at that point when we tap the tree and collect 5 to 10% of the sap, to be utilized for making our birch sap wine or “Springwine©” which we named “Lady of the Woods©”

Spring is a time of new birth, rejuvenation, new beginnings. We like to think that our wine is a new beginning, for taste, enjoyment, happiness and health.

There are birch stand located all around that Boral Forest, yet our birch trees are unique due to our location. Newfoundland is an island located of the East coast of Canada and we have pristine environment with no pollution. By wild harvesting birch sap and having state of the art collecting methods, we provide the highest quality products.

Through analysis and nutrition facts we discovered that our wine is an “Excelled Source” or “Very High In” Manganese, 35% of recommended daily intake per every 125ml serving.  Manganese is a trace mineral that is present in tiny amounts in the body. It is found mostly in bones, the liver, kidneys, and pancreas. Manganese helps the body form connective tissue, bones, blood clotting factors, and sex hormones. It also plays a role in fat and carbohydrate metabolism, calcium absorption, and blood sugar regulation. Manganese is also necessary for normal brain and nerve function. Manganese is a component of the antioxidant enzyme superoxide dismutase (SOD), which helps fight free radicals.

Not only is our wine good for you, it’s great tasting. With over 80% positivity and 5% stating that we have the best wine at wine shows.

This wine shows clear and bright in the glass; provides a delicate fragrance of soft apple and pear; sits well in the mouth with pleasant acids balancing the evident fruit sugars; persistent flavours of ripe pear, Mandarin orange, and Delicious apple blend harmoniously and without bitterness.

Superb by itself, this wine will pair well with less sweet desserts such as shortbread, vanilla crème brulee, and almond fingers.
