(Newswire.net — January 27, 2013) Encinitas, CA — The Santos Fine Art Gallery is holding a “Meet the Artist” public reception featuring “Rock-n-Roll Heaven”, the new collection by world-renowned Rock-n-Roll Acrylic Portrait Artist, Patrick Carney on Saturday, February 9th from 6-10 pm.  The works celebrate 19 individuals, including John Lennon, Jim Morrison, and Elvis Presley, caught in soulful moments of iconic performances. Having known most of the artists he paints, Carney gives an insider’s perspective, creating an essence that transports his audience to a view from the front row of the show.

Carney started his career in 1964 in New York City’s West Village where he photographed, pen and inked, collaged, and acrylic painted the music legends that inspired him throughout his backstage travels of their tours in the US. His images relate to the collective heart and soul of the rock-n-roll living within fans continuing to enjoy these 19 artists, as they live on in music and memory only.

In a recent article, Rick Ostop, of San Diego Rock n’ Roll Magazine, writes of the series that it evokes “the true spirit of the musicians, capturing… [their] unforgettable persona[s]…all that they embodied…monumental moments in 19 musicians’ careers, memorializing their legacy on canvas.”

Said Carney of the Rock-n-Roll Heaven collection, “the depth of color is dynamic, creates intrigue, mystery, magic, and nostalgia. I attempt to offer the aura- the inner light and life- of each musician to my collectors as a reminder of who they were at the time they first heard those notes, riffs, melodies, and lyrics, and how that experience shaped who they are today. That passion and creativity they see on their walls everyday, invites them to unlock their own.”

Carney honed his skills and developed his signature style while studying at the School of Visual Arts in New York during the time of Andy Warhol’s tenure. His vast body of artwork resides worldwide in the private collections of the likes of John Lennon, Al Kooper, Mick Fleetwood, Dick Clark, John Gorka, and Barry McGuire. Now a resident of Southern California, he gives his time and artistic mentorship to Rock to Stop the Violence, the San Diego Autism Research Association and the San Diego Alzheimer Association’s “Memories in Making” where he’s paired with a patient to create pieces that define lucid moments within the disease to be auctioned to raise funds for SDAA resources and awareness.
