(Newswire.net  – March 26, 2013) Houston, TX – Jack Mize, a Local Guru creator and founder of JackMize.com, a local internet marketing company, recently published an article in which he discusses the importance of increasing conversion instead of traffic for small businesses. In this article, Jack states “Conversion … the most neglected and, in my opinion, most important part of local internet marketing. If I had to pick one single thing to be great at, it would be conversion.

According to Jack, most business owners have been led to believe that increasing the traffic to their website is the solution to increasing their bottom line. Costly Pay Per Click campaigns are often the source of the traffic they’re currently getting. As a result, increasing traffic translates to increased Pay Per Click costs. Most business owners are not aware of any other options for growing their business.

Getting more traffic to a website is a relatively easy thing to do if you spend enough money to buy that traffic. That strategy has been well studied and honed down to a science. As for conversion? According to Jack, ‘Getting that traffic to take the next step and actually pick up the phone or visit your store or office and say “I think you have what I need, I pick you” … well, that’s an art.’

Jack reviews an example of marketing for a real estate agent. An agent who gets 500 hits to her website each month, might have 8% of those hits contact her for more information. Those 40 who call her or fill out a form are actual leads. This agent predictably converts 10% of those 40 prospects who contact her into clients. If the average front end value of a client is about $4,000, the monthly revenue resulting from the four clients is $16,000.

Many marketers would indicate the realtor should purchase more traffic so that she gets more leads that result in more clients. The quality of the traffic, however, is not a certainty and the traffic is the result of spending more money.

Jack believes that a better strategy is to examine the content of the website and “tweak the Marketing” to increase the number of visitors that make contact. In this example, a 4% increase in contact due to better conversion from the website, with no increase in traffic, would result in six clients instead of four, resulting in monthly revenue of $24,000, at no greater expense.
