(Newswire.net April 5, 2013) Dallas, TX — If it were feasible to memorize the entire Bible, Genesis to Revelations, it would be at the top of every Christian’s to-do list.   But since memorizing some 1,300 pages is not only improbable but also impractical, Christians are left to determine the best bible verses to memorize which bible verses are the most important, which ones represent the tenants of Christianity and which ones are crucial for guiding every-day decisions and interactions.

In 1984 the Associated Press published an article citing some of Britain’s most elite’s favorite Bible verses.  Among the interviewed, Margaret Thatcher stated that her top pick was Psalm 46:5, “God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day” and Prince Charles cited Matthew 7:12, “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you.”

According to an article on Rolling Out, President Barack Obama’s favorite Bible passage is Luke 6:20-49 and controversial football star Ray Lewis not surprisingly picked Psalms 91 (which is frequently seen on his t-shirts pre- and post-game).

The book of all books, the Bible is the Christian’s guide to life, living, and everything that comes before and after.  Knowing scripture well is not only helpful when facing daily challenges, but it is also a commandment.  And admittedly, many Christians do a poor job when it comes to being able to recite verses from memory.

Several popular books are in the process of changing this.

Maxwell Freedman, author of Daily Holy Armor: The Best Bible Verses Every Christian Must Memorize, which is currently available for purchase on Amazon, takes the memorization of Bible verses very seriously, which is why his new book’s primary focus is helping Christians, old and new alike, become familiar with the Bible’s most cited, discussed, and important verses.

“Like everything worth doing, memorizing scripture takes dedication and determination,” says Freedman.  “But what better way to devote time to every day than in studying God’s word.”
