Robert Downey Jr. Slides into Beijing for the Promotion of "Iron Man 3"

(Newswire.net – April 6 2013) Cincinnati, OH — Robert Downey Jr. Slides into Beijing for the Promotion of “Iron Man 3” which is filmed partly in China and features well-known Chinese actors.

Robert Downey Jr. who reprises the role of Tony Stark in the upcoming movie — revealed at a news conference that he is fascinated with the Chinese culture and loves to watch Chinese movies, while urging the local audience to see his newest film.

“I’m interested in all things Chinese and I live a very Chinese life in America,” … Robert Downey Jr.

China is the world’s second largest film market and a key region for the international box office success for the film.  Marvel partnered with Chinese producers DMG Entertainment to show a different version of Iron Man 3 and to secure one of the limited foreign film slots.

DMG CEO Dan Mintz commented, stating “There’s only more and not less”.  DMG chairman Xiao Wenge said introducing Chinese culture to the world is a core mission of his company.

Iron Man 3 is predicted to sell $15,000,000 in its opening weekend with total sales of $375,000,000 which would trump Iron Man 2’s total domestic gross of $318.4 million.   Some question if the market might suffer from audience fatigue but the early online buzz is noticeably strong.

The sequel to the original Iron Man movie set a record at US box offices bringing in $133.5 million and box office predictions for Iron Man 3 are expected to triple those sales. 

Iron Man 3 will be released in the International market on April 25th and in the U.S. on May 3rd.   The film will be the seventh installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, being the first major release in the franchise since the cover film “The Avengers.”
