(Newswire.net — April 9, 2013) Montreal, Quebec — Montreal is well known for its challenging road system and aggressive drivers.  Young adults just learning to drive need to be aware of the statistics regarding drivers in the age group of 16 to 24 years of age.

According to the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ), drivers in this age category hold 11% of all licences in Quebec but make up 25% of those who are involved in  accidents resulting in bodily injury.  The two main factors are speed and impaired driving.  Even though young drivers cover distances considerably less than older drivers, they tend to commit more offences such as speeding and failing to make proper stops.  For all offences committed at speeds over 45 km/h above the speed limit, the age group of 16 to 24 are responsible for over half of them.  They are also responsible for more than 50% of dangerous acts on the road such as speeding offences.

It has been stated by some driving schools that taking these statistics into account, it is the responsibility of the young driver and the parents or guardian to ensure the driver obtains the best driver training instruction available.  Driving lessons should not be viewed as a cost but rather an investment in the safety of the youth and those who drive on the roads every day.

This is why the Montreal City Driving School utilizes a “Digital Video Recorder” in the vehicle.  A visual record of the on-road practice is recorded showing the view of the road in front of the driver and the comments and reactions of the driver and instructor.  Additionally, a GPS guided map indicates where the vehicle is within the city of Montreal at all times during the road practice.  The student driver can then review the on-road practice session within the classroom which provides a much richer learning experience due to the complete visual review and assessment of the practice.

Thomas who is the owner and operator of the school states, “Our greatest honour is the parent entrusting their child’s safety with our experienced and qualified instructors.  We are one of the oldest driving schools in Montreal and we use the latest teaching technologies such as the digital video recorder to enhance the on-road learning experience.  Driving students enjoy the visual review of the driving experience and it helps them visualize dangerous driving situations and apply the defensive driving measures to avoid a mishap.”

Driving lessons can be scheduled in advance for the convenience of the driver.
