(Newswire.net — April 9, 2013) Honolulu, HI — Hawaii artist Thomas Deir, resident of Kailua, Hawaii, donated the first-ever professional logo to the Lani-Kai Outdoor Circle for the 21st annual I Love Kailua fundraiser for the town of Kailua, Hawaii. The I Love Kailua town party is a multi-event fundraiser for Lani-Kailua Outdoor Circle, an organization that for 65 years has funded beautification and maintenance projects for Kailua. The town party is located on the streets in the middle of Kailua Town 96734. This year it will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2013 from 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
“The Lani-Kailua Outdoor Circle is a branch of The Outdoor Circle, Hawaii’s leading organization for protecting the beauty of Hawai‘i. The organization is best known for banning billboards in Hawaii. “When the town party organizers asked me if I could help with the 2013 logo I was honored. I wanted to give back to my hometown and contribute to the good work by the event organizers. The I Love Kailua town party is very important for the local restaurants, businesses, non-profits and residents,” said Deir.
“Our town is a point of interest for tourists visiting Oahu. The funds raised each year allow us to beautify and make necessary upgrades that otherwise could not be funded. The event is also a boost for many of the local businesses who bring their products out to the street for the public to enjoy,” stated Deir.
“If it wasn’t for this grass-roots organization, Hawaii would be overrun with buildings, billboards and who knows what else. Tourists enjoy visiting Kailua because it isn’t over developed like Honolulu and Waikiki. Kailua is a very different place; it feels like Hawaii. This is why I felt it was important to donate a logo that portrays the beauty of Kailua,” said Deir.
The artist designed the logo using the image from his popular painting, Paradise. Joan Fleming and Lyn Turner from the Lani-Kailua Outdoor Circle also contributed to the design. Although the original oil painting on canvas was sold many years ago, Deir’s clients enjoy the painting by virtue of a canvas reproduction process known as Giclee. Deir will go the extra mile with custom fit-to-size Giclee for walls and he embellishes each piece with hand painted highlights.
Deir added, “The 2013 I Love Kailua town party will be a lot of fun, in addition to the 21 plus restaurants,
50 craft vendors and 20 artists there will be live entertainment, lots of activities for kids, lots of food, and lots of Aloha!”
