(Newswire.net — April 22, 2013) Denver, CO — The Root 40 (a play on words about the famous “Longest Straightest Highway in the country” – Route 40) Music Fest kicked off between two major snow events in the Denver area with international performer Tokyo Rosenthal performing on the open air stage at the iconic Fillmore Auditorium on Colfax Avenue.  The week long collection of local artists featured Tokyo ( Toke to his friends) who will be performing at some of the other venues including Pete’s Satire Lounge on Monday night and the Three Lions on Tuesday evening.

Toke has traveled to Colorado, but this is his first time performing in Denver solo and with the Root 40 Music Fest.  “I have found that this is a great place to perform, and the weather surprised me. It couldn’t have been a nicer day to have listeners come out and enjoy music up and down Route 40. I obviously over dressed for today.” His repertoire includes many of his own compositions and all of them, including a few covers, have great stories that go with them.

He is preparing for his trip to the U.K. and then touring the southern part of the US on his most current tour schedule.   While in the British Iles, he will be presented with a comendation for having honored one of their own cities by song, a distinction that he has garnered with other locals as well.  Traveling has inspired him to tell the stories of the places he has visited, and it adds to the stories that accompany his colorful and melodic performances.

While staying in the historic stone bed and breakfast , the Castle Marne Bed and Breakfast Inn , he finds how accessible all the venues are. All are within walking distance from the iconic Denver B&B.  Central to Denver’s top restaurants and performance venues from the downtown Denver Center for Performing Arts to numerous event venues up Colfax Avenue.

Tokyo is looking forward to coming back to Colorado and specifically Denver, perhaps to write a songs about the weather and how you can never guess what you get, but enjoy it nonetheless.
