(Newswire.net — April 23, 2013) Denton, TX  If you have ever had a tooth ache, you might know how painful it is.  It can compared to a pair of tight fitting shoes. It doesn’t matter, what is going in your world, all you can focus on is the discomfort at the moment. Your dental health is very much connected to your overall well being.  In this article you will find some tips to show you how to locate or learn more about holistic dentistry.

Holistic Dentistry not only deals with the aching tooth, or the symptoms, but the total body.  The goal is to get to the root of the matter, like what is causing the aching tooth to hurt, while using more natural remedies.

Many Dentists still use amalgam fillings that are made up of more 50% mercury, which is one of the most toxic heavy metals on the planet.  In Holistic Dentisty the goal is to prolong the health of the teeth, and not use mercury but composite filling.  Mercury fillings are said to last longer, but can leak into the body.

According to the American Dental Association, mercury fillings are safe to use,

“Although dental amalgam is a safe, commonly used dental material, you may wonder about its mercury content. It’s important to know that when combined with the other metals, it forms a safe, stable material. Be assured that credible scientific studies affirm the safety of dental amalgam. Study after study shows amalgam is safe and effective for filling cavities.” American Dental Associate website www.mouthhealthy.org

But in the report on how to get rid of amalgam waste they issued,

“Although mercury in the form of dental amalgam is stable, amalgam should not be disposed of in the garbage, infectious waste “red bag,” or sharps container. Amalgam also should not be rinsed down the drain. These cautions are important because some communities incinerate municipal garbage, medical waste, and sludge from wastewater treatment plants. If amalgam waste ends up in one of these incinerated waste streams, the mercury can be released to the environment due to the high temperatures used in the incineration process. Increasingly, local communities are enacting restrictions on the incineration of wastes containing mercury.” ada.org

Flouride is another harmful chemical that has been added to drinking water, and many of the toothpaste products that can be harmful to you as well.  Real Holistic Dentistry providers will not include fluoride products in their practice as well.  Harvard School of Public Health, and China Medical University conducted a study and came up with the following results,

“Fluoride seems to fit in with lead, mercury, and other poisons that cause chemical brain drain …The effect of each toxicant may seem small, but the combined damage on a population scale can be serious, especially because the brain power of the next generation is crucial to all of us.” http://www.hsph.harvard.edu

Holistic Dentistry strives to use the most natural products to treat the entire body via the mouth.  True medicine and healing seeks to heal the body, and not patch up the symptom with harmful chemicals.  When applying patchwork, this can really do more harm than good.

“Natural forces within us are the true healers of disease.” Hippocrates
