(Newswire.net — 4/27/13) Los Angeles, CA — Yesterday we lost one of the world’s greatest entertainers. The famous songwriter and country singer was born into poverty on September 12, 1931 in the small town of Saratoga, Texas and passed April 26, 2013 at 81 years of age. Believe it or not Jones was so poor that he actually begin performing out of the streets of East Texas as a child. Being one of eight children growing up in the same household Jones struggled with some of life’s basic necessities. His father was an abusive alcoholic who at times took his anger out on his children. Later in his career he wrote an autobiography entitled, I lived to Tell It All in which he stated “We were our daddy’s loved ones when he was sober, his prisoners when he was drunk.”
Jones took his mind away from his living situation by writing and singing music. In 1953 he signed with Starday Records and the owner Pappy Daily became his manager and producer. In 1955 he made his first hit record “Why Baby Why” and many more hits such as “You Gotta Be My Baby” and “Just One More”. However it wasn’t until 1959 that Jones had made his first No. 1 hit single with the comical song entitled “ White Lightning”.
By the early 1960’s Jones had already established himself as one of the premier country artist in the industry. During Jones’s career he worked with many producers such as Billy Sherrill, Norro Wilson, Buddy Cannon, Kyle Lehning and Evelyn Shriver. Amongst his many albums none may have been more successful and highly recognized then his “George Jones 50 Years of Hits” which was released in 2005 and can found on Amazon for discount prices . This popular album consists of 3 disc and features all of his No.1’s and Top 10 songs such as; Color of the Blues, Window Up Above, Tender Years, The Race is On, The Grand Tour, I Always Get Lucky With You, Cold hard Truth and many more.
Although one of the greatest Country singers of all times has passed, his music will live forever.
