( — May 1, 2013) Seattle, WA — Design School Resource, an online information website dedicated to helping people interested in either a graphic design, fashion design or interior design career, is celebrating its 10-year anniversary.

For the past 10 years, Design School Resource has been helping current students and others who are either interested in getting into a design school or pursuing a career in one of the design fields.

The website manager, David Hanson, explains, “The general field of design is very broad.  While most people think of the graphic arts field, there is also the interior design area and the fashion design area.  And while the concepts and training are all very different, they are each categorized under the broad design umbrella.”

Design School Resource allows site visitors to look into schools and career training programs based on which area of design they are interested in, as well as finding which schools are located in their city or state.

Hanson had advice for some prospective students, “It can be difficult to find formal education programs in interior design and fashion design.  Very few schools offer a degree in interior design.  You really have to look for them.  It’s almost easier to find  a community college that offers an associate degree or a series of courses than it is to find a four-year school that offers an undergraduate degree.”

“The same thing is true in the fashion area,” Hanson continued, “Except that fashion degree programs tend to be concentrated in the large cities.  If you happen to live in one of the biggest cities, such as New York, LA, Chicago or Miami, you will have many more options that you will if you don’t live near one.”

Hanson noted that for someone interested in one of those fields, they may be forced to create their own degree program at whatever school they happen to be attending.  “A student can always be creative and put together a series of classes in related fields that they can combine with some practical work experience and use that to secure their first job after graduation,” Hanson concluded.
