(Newswire.net — May 1, 2013) Hinton, AB — Friday, May 3, 2013 will mark the 30th anniversary of the disappearance of Shelly Anne Bacsu. After the initial investigation into her disappearance, RCMP believed that Shelly-Anne might be part of B.C.’s Highway of Tears Murders. However recent investigation into her case has lead them to now believe that the Shelly-Anne missing person case is not a part of Highway of Tears Murders and that her disappearance does not fit with those murders. Hinton RCMP is now looking into other possible angles and the search and investigations into her disappearance have been renewed.
Many different stories about what may have happened to Shelly-Anne Bascu have surfaced over the years but the facts of the case are as follows. 16 year old Shelly-Anne Bacsu vanished on May 3, 1983. Earlier that evening she was babysitting with her boyfriend at his home. Around 8 p.m., Shelly-Anne called her mother, Muriel Bacsu, to say that she was getting a ride home from a friend and was never seen again.
There may be new information about the case as a result of Muriel seeking out help and continuing to search for information about her daughter. The RCMP are currently following up and reviewing the case. With the new revelations, the case has seen a new lease of life and raised the hopes that it will be solved and that Shelly-Anne will be found. “We haven’t given up on Shelly-Anne,” said Muriel Bacsu, mother of Shelly Anne Bacsu. “To give us all the closure we need we want to find out what happened to her and where her body may be now.”
