(Newswire.net – May 15, 2013) Denver, CO – “Spirit of Love is one of those rare films that goes beyond the art of film making and touches the heart. You can’t miss the message that each of us, while appearing different, are really quite the same – we ALL need to be loved, and to show love to one another!” stated one of the hundreds of audience members at the Invitation only Sold Out screening. They continued – “One of the things I loved about the film was how what most view as a physical limitation was viewed as something normal – as opposed to over sensationalizing the topic. The metaphor of sports is great because, as one coach says in the film, ‘…anyone can play basketball…'”.
Spirit of Love will give you a new way of viewing those who, on the surface, appear different. And you will be challenged to show love to others in a brand new way”, Said comedian Dan McGowan.
Darla Rae and Mike Glenn attended and were overwhelmed by the emotion of watching the audiences respond through tears and cheers. “As a filmmaker it is always rewarding when you see the emotion openly displayed by an audience member while watching your work. But really Mike’s life as an unsung hero tugs at the heartstrings. However it’s the amazing teens that make you pull out the tissue” said Rae.
The film features Deaf and Hard of Hearing teens most that had never acted or played basketball before.
Award winning radio personality Jennifer Wilde said “I loved Spirit of Love. Although it is a film about basketball, it’s not about the sport. It’s a film about working hard, perseverance and acceptance. And the way to create acceptance of others is to find the ways you are like them. That’s what the film teaches. Whether we are black or white, deaf or hearing, we are all, our own unique person, and that makes us great. Great work!”
Rae ends the film with a unique ASL performance piece to the title song “Spirit of Love” vocally performed by Laura Dodd, but interpreted by two individuals Aaron Kellogg, and MJ Williams, representing two generations, two genders, and two ethnicities with Open captions proving that it doesn’t matter how you communicate, but that you communicate.
The film is continuing to screen at festivals while seeking the right distribution partners. Partners who are ready, willing and able to meet the NATO National Association of Theater Owners head on, and deliver to them an outstanding award winning inspirational film which is rated PG, A film which will bring in the families and fill seats, and change lives while being entertained.
This is the right film to be distributed in theaters with open captions, bridging the gap and exploring diversity amongst many groups while being inspired with a Spirit of Love.
