Portlanders Pound Poor Political Policy Proposal At Polls

(Newswire.net — May 22, 2013) Portland, OR — The voters in Portland, Oregon decided they didn’t want Fluoride in their water. Reports are that the politicians are vowing to find ways around the vote and cram it down the public’s throat, literally, against their will. Fluoride is a bad thing. There is tons of evidence that it isn’t the dental and bone salvation that it claims to be.

Is Fluoride the only thing we need to be concerned about in our water?

For years the bottled water industry has stressed the cleanliness, convenience and safety of their products. Now we find out that much of that water is simply tap water put in bottles. It contains all the pollution that comes out of that city’s tap. In addition it contains all the contaminants introduced during the bottling process. This includes the BPA that leaches from the plastic bottles during transportation and storage.

What else in in our water?

In some areas there are massive amounts of chlorine. This is supposed to kill any bacteria in the water from the sanitation plant and from the pipes on the way to your home. It also kills the bacteria in your body, including the ones that are necessary to good health. Chlorine attaches itself to iodine in the body. That would be a good thing if we have too much iodine in our bodies. The problem is that most Americans are iodine deficient. This leads to an increase in thyroid problems. Thyroid problems lead to multiple hormonal problems. They can also lead to mental decline and obesity.

Anything else?

There is growing evidence that all the pharmaceuticals we take are ending up in our water supply. The water treatment plants are not able to get them all out. That means that we are giving our little boys and girls birth control pills in their glass of water, along with the BPA from the plastic glass. This is scary for the next generation, as these kids have a high chance of ending up with fertility problems.

Cadmium is being found in the water. This mineral leads to heart attacks, osteoporosis and diabetes. Those are not things we want from our water.

Insecticides such as Aldrin, chlordane, DDT, endrin, heptacholor, hecxcholorbenzine and toxophene are coming from our farm land and gardens and getting into our water supplies. Substances that kill pesThey are commonly found to be toxic to humans as well. Mirex is both a fire retardant and an insecticide. They are also finding PCBs, Dioxins and furans in the water.

North Carolina is reporting that they have high levels of sucralose in their water. This is an artificial sweetener that has been linked to some serious health problems such as: nausea, diarrhea, allergic reactions such as runny nose, coughing, skin irritation, itchy eyes and hives. It has also been linked to mood swings, depression, vision changes and migraines. Many studies are showing a strong link to obesity. Isn’t this what we want from our glass of water?

We think that drinking the water is the only way we get exposed to these substances, but that isn’t true. We get them every time we wash our hands, take a shower or bath, cook with tap water, wear clothes washed in tap water, and the list goes on.

What can we do?

In one word: detoxify! Detoxification starts by stopping to put the bad things in the body. This means we need to only come in contact with filtered water. These filters won’t get rid of everything lurking in our water pipes, but they will help. We can’t just filter the kitchen tap, but all the faucets in the house. A good way of doing this is a pre-filter before the water even enters the house.

The second part of detoxification is finding ways to get the toxins out of our bodies. This includes many different avenues of detoxification that modern man tends to block. Sweating is one of them. We don’t want to sweat because we might stink. The smell comes from bacteria living in the moisture, not the moisture itself. To avoid the smell find ways of slowing down or eliminating that bacterial growth. There are all natural deodorants that allow you to sweat without smelling like you came from a barnyard.

Making sure you have regular bowel movements is one method of detoxification. Being constipated stores those toxins in your body for longer periods. This allows the body to absorb and store more of those toxins for future ‘use’. Having our digestion and bowels working properly is one of the ways we can protect ourselves.

There are many supplements that can help us to detoxify our bodies. They include clays that can be eaten, activated charcoal that can be eaten, chlorella, spirulina, red clover, alfalfa, dandelion, milk thistle, cilantro and many others. Some of these can be eaten as foods; others are better used as supplements.

If we live in the city we are somewhat at the mercy of the city water system. We need to take charge of our lives and do what we can to limit the consequences of that dependency.
