(Newswire.net — June 6, 2013) New York, NY — Lauren Hooker creates magic for children. Her stories, culled from the traditions of the world, transport and teach children about life, learning and creativity. “Musical Legends” brings to life stories and musical genres from around the globe by integrating all of the arts, and inviting the audience to participate. Performing in schools, camps, libraries, museums and festivals to rave reviews, Musical Legends is informative, entertaining and unique.

Her shows educate and entertain children from Pre-K to 8th grade with an interactive energy that adults find interesting and entertaining as well. One “Musical Legend” story, Rainbow Crow, includes the haunting sounds of American Indian flutes, drums and rattles. This show focuses on our relationship to Mother Earth and suits Pre-K to 5th grade with an audience of up to 250 children.

Other show titles include, The Fire Children, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Great Kapok Tree, Jazz 4 Kids, Celebration Of The Drum, Sing America’s Story and Paint The Music. Many of the shows can be adapted for solo up to quartet performers. Noted for her ability to bring together New York and New Jersey’s finest musicians, Ms. Hooker emphasizes the student’s participation and inspires imagination, co-operation, diversity, musical history learning, musical awareness and just plain fun.

Educated at Fairleigh Dickinson University for Music Education K through 12 with a concentration in theatre, Ms. Hooker is also certified as an Orff Schulwerk Instructor from The Bloomindale House of Music in New York City. Further education includes, The Manhattan School of Music, Rutgers University, Bank Street College of Music Education, HB Studios for the Performing Arts and the New York School of Commercial Music. Active on the live performance scene as well, both singing and accompanying herself on piano or with her band, Lauren Hooker engages her audience with her powerful voice, poetic stage presence and dynamic performance style. You can catch her live at, Phoebe’s Place – Art Cafe, Friday, June 7, 2013 in Teaneck, NJ. This new honor, no doubt, keeps the fires burning and the music churning.
